Yay book, yay Russian lit, yay skirt, yay potential viewing of AotC

It's been pretty good so far. I made the annual trip to the bookstore for summer reading material. Got less books this time, but, hey, one of them was hardcover. There are only a handful of authors I will buy in hardcover these days. Yep, I finally got Diplomatic Immunity, the new Vorkosigan book. Just finished reading it, and wheee! it was good. The usual fun space-opera with lots of witty clever dialogue and quaddies and Bel Thorne and Cetagandans and Miles being his manic self and and weird genetically-modified people and quotes about marching bands. Yay. I will probably reread it in a couple days, though -- I intended to reread A Civil Campaign before I started this, but I couldn't make myself wait. I will definitely reread it, though. I don't spend $25 on something I only read once.

I fully intended to get the new Robin Hobb book (Robin Hobb being another one of those authors I will buy in hardcover), but they didn't have it. Instead I somehow ended up with Russkie Rasskazy (Russian Stories), which is about ten stories by famous Russian writers, in a bilingual edition with a glossary and everything. I will get to see if I like Russian literature. (Sample sentence: "'My nerves are all shot to pieces,' he said, pouring himself a fifth glass of vodka.")

And also now I have a skirt. Yay skirt. It is tie-dyed, and I suppose looks vaguely hippie-ish. I like tie-dye.

And I think now we might be going to see AotC, as neither my father nor brother has seen it. Yay AotC.
