What I Just Finished Reading
Ben Aaronovitch, False Value: The latest Rivers of London book. These books are always solidly written, and the mystery here was reasonably entertaining, but I think mostly it was hampered by me not caring much about Peter and Bev's relationship, which the book clearly wanted me to.
What I'm Reading Now
Comics Wednesday!
Avengers #32: Apparently Namor has his own army and his people are trying to convince him to fight the Avengers (in addition to everyone else who hates the Avengers) like Dracular and the Winter Guard. Natasha leaves the team. Thor is thrilled to be taking care of a baby and Tony... is still having deep psychological issues. Also Coulson (running the Squadron Supreme) is also an agent of Mephisto so I'm sure everything will be just peachy. Plus, Namor decides to summon the Phoenix. Awesome.
New Mutants #9: Another non-Hickman issue, set in Carnelia, apparently in Marvel-616 formerly part of the USSR. (Also Tony accidentally murdered their ambassador that one time. You remember.) Anyway. Carnelia does not recognize Krakoa but they have a mutant kid there that the New Mutants are going to help. It all goes sideways and they need Wildside's help, which I guess would be more meaningful if I knew who that was.
Sub-Mariner Marvels Snapshot #1: Well, this is going to be an interesting series. Set just after the war, Betty (Namor's girlfriend) tries to take him to an amusement park only to find a former-Nazi mecha-shark (yeah, I know) wanting to pick a fight. The All-Winners Squad shows up for a bit (I hope that was Jeff Mace, he's my favorite) and also everyone has some PTSD.
X-Men #8: The New Mutants were apparently dumbasses who brought a Brood Egg back from space. Everyone has a fight.
