Wednesday Reading Meme
As an addendum to my previous post, the vote tabulation here was even better (or possibly worse) this time than watching the newspaper update a Google Sheet in real time. This time, what happened was that after the polls closed, while the local news was still saying 0% reporting, people were posting to the local Facebook group pictures of handwritten notes (on notebook paper) of the final count, which for some reason it took the news half an hour to report because I assume there are other official channels.
Somehow I thought this process would be... I don't know... more technological.
Anyway.

I said I was gonna read a real book and I lied again. Sigh.

Comics Wednesday!
Black Cat #6: Apparently the no-homo for Batroc saying he has a thing for Steve (as was revealed in the previews for this issue) is him saying that fighting Steve is a lot like sex and in many ways better than sex, so, uh, that's still pretty gay, Marvel.
New Mutants #1: The Dawn of X continues in the only other Hickman-penned title, though he is co-writing. The team is... wow, a lot of people I only vaguely remember other than my beloved Doug Ramsey. Karma, Wolfsbane, Mondo, Cypher, Mirage, Sunspot, Chamber, Magik. Other than Rahne, Doug, Jono, Bobby, and Illyana, I don't remember anyone's name. (You can tell that I never read a lot of New Mutants.) Anyway, Rahne's back; I hadn't realized she was dead. Anyway, the art is gorgeous and the New Mutants get their own place to live, The Sextant. And Bobby is sad that Sam isn't with them and is with his family on Chandilar so he hires the Starjammers to take them to Shi'ar space. Yes, this book feels as old-school as you think. Anyway, the Starjammers abandon them on a space station filled with angry Shi'ar, but whatever, they'll be fine.
X-Force #1: More Dawn of X, and this is the one they're putting a marketing push behind (there's a director's cut), even though this one isn't Hickman. Cast of characters says: Beast, Wolverine, Black Tom Cassidy, Kitty, Jean, Sage, Xavier, Healer, Domino... so I guess this is the big-name heavy-hitter team. Kitty is doing smuggling and Xavier is presumably not on the actual team. Anyway, some people invade Krakoa and it looks like Xavier is dead? Oh noes, a cliffhanger!
