Yay!
I am feeling more like a human being now, so maybe later today I can start to tackle these comment/email replies. I think I have my brain back, for the most part. (Which is good. I miss writing fic. I am behind on my writing goals!)
Anyway! Birthday was very good, other than the being-sick part!
lysimache (♥ ♥ ♥) took me out to dinner (I picked chain Mexican food, which I know is kind of appalling but sometimes you just REALLY WANT a giant bowl of chips and queso) and then we bought a chocolate raspberry cake. There is a lot of cake left. She got me a nice card and a supporting Vividcon membership so that we can get Vividcon DVDs after the con (because she always gets me Vividcon DVDs; I don't know what she's gonna get me after next year), and, most excitingly, she and my parents gave me money so that I could finally replace Sad Old Computer here with Shiny Happy Computer. Yay!
So I have just ordered myself a refurbished 13" Macbook Pro, last year's low-end model, although I splurged on the RAM and hard drive (which I have never done before) because I figure if I can spend a bit now to make this thing last longer, that's what I should do. So I am excited and will be getting that on Monday. I then spent a while trying to figure out what skin I should get to cover it (all my electronics these days have skins from DecalGirl, who sadly do not have fandom-related art like some of the other retailers do, but their skins are very good quality and cover the whole computer, unlike most of the others, and I like having something over the palm rest); I settled on Octopus Bloom. I am very committed to tentacles now, I guess.
In the category of Presents That The Rest Of You Can Appreciate Too, three people drew me some excellent Marvel fanart for my birthday:

I suppose I will now... research external hard drives some more. Gotta put my media stash somewhere, after all.

phoenixmetaphor drew Carol and Wanda in Nomad outfits! Amazing! I think keeping those outfits on is probably its own superpower! The conversation we had about this was basically her saying "Wat draw?" and me saying "Nomad!" and her asking me who should wear the Nomad outfit and me saying "EVERYONE." Clearly I need to write the story about the Avengers' terribly ill-advised poker game (they lost a bet, you see; Wanda has clearly lost on purpose), which I would 100% do if I had any idea what the rules of poker actually were.
