Woohoo, lookit what Alliance Atlantis says:
We are considering on starting on [Due South] for DVD.
But then:
Currently our sales team has indicated there are not enough interest in this release from our wholesale customers at this time.
Boo. Hiss. And since when is "interest" a plural noun? But hey, at least they say:
Hopefully we will be able to get such a DVD on our schedule and out to the public sooner rather than later. This may be as early as the end of this year or early next year but I cannot say with certainly if or when this will ever happen.
"With certainly"? The "t" and the "l" key aren't anywhere near each other on my keyboard. Also, it sounds like they're planning to do exactly one DVD, if they do anything. Nuh-uh. They've tricked me like that before -- I bought the first Stargate SG-1 disc because there was nothing else out there, and then, wow, season box set.
This is also why I'm not buying B5 until they do season sets. I can maybe see how single discs of dS would make sense to them, since not everybody is a huge fan, and maybe just want the Pilot and VS or something, and it's not really an arc show. But buying choice episodes of B5 would be kind of silly: "Look, I have "Babylon Squared," "Chrysalis," "The Coming of Shadows," "Comes the Inquisitor," "Messages From Earth," "War Without End," "Z'Ha'Dum," "Endgame," and "Sleeping in Light." You've never seen B5, how about you watch "War Without End"?" I really can't imagine people buying random single episodes of B5 like that.
But hey, if I ran the DVD departments, we would have had a double-disc edition of "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead," followed by "The Last Unicorn," then season sets of dS and B5. Then my DVD departments would be bankrupt, because I would be the only person buying them. And nobody would then DVD obscure Canadian films starring Paul Gross or Callum Keith Rennie. Not that they are DVDing them anyway. (On a related note, does anybody else think that the Last Night and HCL DVDs kinda suck? In a bad way.)
