If you see that I've posted at 2 in the morning, that's 6 hours later. I really posted at 8 in the morning for some of you. Just finished reading two versions of Shakespeare's Hamlet (Arden and Oxford) funnily enough I understand the Arden better than the Oxford. I think the Arden has the second Quarto edition of Hamlet whilist the Oxford has the either the first or third Quarto edition where Hamlet's soliloquy of human reasoning is omitted. Had to read that for class for tomorrow and it was a very good thing that I bought the Arden version on tuesday or I would have been very confused with the Oxford version until I found it in the Appendix part of the book. Why do publishers do this to me? I know not.
Right now I'm reading A. C. Bradley's Shakespearian Tragedy, which explains some reasoning in the Shakespeare books and he explains that the soliloquy that we are supposed to read is often omitted because in the play itself it doesn't seem feasible to act out. I still think it is a very important soliloquy because it shows that Hamlet finally decides to kill his uncle/stepfather and decides not to delay it any longer.
Two weeks of Hamlet, then we're done with it for the summer. First week is almost done. Second (starting on Tuesday), starts. Must read some required books at the Trinity Library, for they sound really interesting and worthy of some note-taking.
I see Dai the day after tomorrow, maybe hang out around Oxford and look for interesting things and show him about and around, show him the book about the Koeperwelten exhibit. It'll be fun.
Right now, I'm taking a break maybe walk to the oxford store and see about getting a sweater. Get drunk and get a fatty liver. Not a fatty liver, just kidding, but haven't drank anything for two days and I'm in England for christ's sake.
