so one day into being back from our glorious 10 day holiday in Barcelona and reality has hit me on the head, like really hard. It was a rude awakening just stepping off the plane. Only a few hours before we were bathing in sunshine, warmth and generally good vibes and when we return its cold, wet and generally stinky vibes. Danny took me out for an indian dinner last night to help ease me back to real life which was nice. Now back at work theres loads to be done, lots to think of and organise for and some strokes of genius are needed. I really need to focus on ideas for programming for Mirrorball (the music based strand of the festival I'm working for this year as well as being screenings coordinator). I've been so busy at my dumb temp job that it has left little to no time to come up with amazing ideas. I told myself once I got back from Spain it was time to really commit to start brainstorming. I've been purusing the film section on myspace to see if there are any innovative music videos or music based docs but so far its been slim pickins. I emailed one guy and he's submitted his film to me through without a box so when i am in the offices later today i will check it out. If any of you know anyone who is working in music video or the like, be it for a big band or little tiny band , please let me know as I would love to take a look at their stuff.
back to spain- it was awesome. the people the attitude the air it was wonderful. i do like scotland and have learned and gained a lot here but man being in spain i got to thinking damn did i end up in the wrong place. perhaps the grass is always greener on the other side but we both loved it and even talked about how we could see each other moving there, maybe before going back to NYC. It is funny because at first I sort of regretted giving up our spring visit to nyc to see family and friends but after going to spain I know we chose right.
We spent most days wandering around, stopping here and there for drinks and tapas and whatever else. We saw lots of Gaudi, I especially liked la Sagrada Familia. It was interesting to see and hear about the controversy between his original work and the continuing work done by Japanese architects/designers. Yes it looks different, maybe a bit too modern but I don't see it as a bad thing necessarily. People are going to always have something to say, often negative but it doesnt mean it can't be done.
we saw a barcalona v. getage football match which was really fun. we ened up with great seats given to us by our friend Toni's father. We saw Ronaldinho pretty close which ruled. Once I stood up and cheered thinking there was a goal when in reality it wasn't. Haha.
