as ii was walking to work from the bus stop i was really wishing i had one of those i hate mondays' t shirts from the 80s on under my sweater, not because i have a penchant for 80s style clothing but because i really really dont like mondays'. at least not todays monday. it probably has to do with the fact that despite being lovely and beautiful on friday it went on to be a miserably dark and cold weekend with today being the worst. i guess the clocks going back (or forward i dont know whatever they do) is just the cherry on top. blah.
on a positve note, i actually did have an alright weekend. on thursday night me and danny were all 'hooray! we are both off tomorrow! we can sleep in!' but when firday moriing came there was a knock at 8:30am and it was the boiler people who came to replace our boiler which in a way i was happy about but it totally killed our sleepy time lazy morning idea. we did go running later in the day and that was nice because i ran the whole time without stopping (a huge feat for me) and we had this really nice view of the sea from the path we were running along. on saturday we went to this outdoor market where we bought some scottish cheese , some yummy fresh bread, a huge bar of green and blacks organic dark chocolate (which went on to give me an insane stomach ache probably because i ate it all in like a day) and some organic orange juice which actually tasted like poo and i really would have rathr had some tropicana. at night we went on a 'date' to some little pubs near our house befoe going home to watch traffic on tv. i watched about 5 minutes before falling asleep (it wasnt good anyway). yesterday the fun continued when we went to the cameo theatre to see a double feature of napolean dynamite and garden state. the former was extrememly silly, a little grating but totally watchable. mtv films so what can you really expect i suppose. i did like kip, the brother and the way napolean ran of of the room with his shoulders leading the way. i think the best line was said by deb (the glamour shots girl) when she replies to uncle ricos request for his photo to be a little softer: "yeah, i have this pink backdrop and then i can wrap you in some foam..somethng billowy?"
garden state on the other hand was everything i wanted it to be. just the right mix of perceptive realism and necessary fantasies. love that peter sarskgard or however you spell his last name.
in other news, i got the job at the film festival this year! the fact that its both the one i really wanted and it pays makes me feel really good, like maybe i am on a path here. yeah.
