School's back

So, first day of actual classes was today. I have statistics from 9-11 M W F and middle college from 12:20 to 3, and I figure that giving myself a break like that would reduce the likelyhood of me cutting classes. Statistics was interesting, but I think I'm going to like the teacher. He has a very dry, kind of English sense of humor like me, and I think I'm the only one in class who picked up on most of his little comments. Class seems pretty straightforward; 10 quizzes (the 10 best scores out of 11 quizzes) at 10 points each, 2 tests (out of 3) at 100 points each, and one final at 200 points. He gave this little speech at the beginning about how if you didn't pass algebra 1 you could probably get by in statistics, but you wouldn't be able to progress any further. I was sitting there trying to imagine a college aged student not being able to pass algebra 1, and I came to the conclusion that stats is going to be no biggie.

Tomorrow I have philosophy with Mr. Young, this awesome, kind of eccentric professor. I've taken a couple of his classes before, so this should be fun. I also have english 165, which I'm not really looking forward to as I hate english. I also have my first night class tomorrow, cosmology. It should be interesting, as the teacher is apparently this crazy ex-NASA physicist lady and I'm taking it with some awesome people.

Today I met with an incredible violist, who had agreed to listen to my concerto and work with me on it. His name is Charlton Lee, and he's the founder of the Del Sol quartet (I doubt any of you have heard of them, but they're a really, really good string quartet thats active around the bay area). I went up to his house in the city, and he spent a solid two and a half hours working with me on my piece. If anyone has ever worked with someone thats really, really, really good, its amazing how much you can learn. Anyways, now I have three days to put all of this into practice for my competition on saturday morning. So yea, pray for me, wish me luck, whatever floats your boat ;).
