I'm either very ambitious or just plain crazy, because after searching high and low for a "ruined" and appropriate post-apocalyptic world for TS3, I've decided that I'll just have to....create my own.
DEEP BREATH.
So I downloaded the create-a-world tool and Rflog's "moon base" CAW file (which she put up on mediafire for people to edit however they like). I thought the moon-ish landscape would work well for a post-apocalyptic world, but I changed all the terrain painting to something more desert-like.
So I guess the concept here is a large city, possibly on a lake, river, or bay (thus, the bridges) which was wiped out by some calamity or another. Bombs? (might explain the craters) Tidal wave? Plague? Eh...who knows!
Well, obviously we're going more for atmosphere here than realism, since the building that's been swept up in sand still has its lights on. What I really need is some burnt-out and destroyed buildings, but no one has made any such thing for CAW (there's been very little CC made for CAW in general).
I've tried to create rubble effects with other things, like turning the landgrabb scaffolding upside down, so that it looks a little bit like the steel-framework of a destroyed building. The half-buried retaining walls are meant to suggest a destroyed highway or somesuch. I'm trying to be inventive and not worry too much about realism, since a realistic "ruined" world is impossible without CC objects.
Note to self: the sides of the hills/craters need more terrain painting.
I don't know...what's the consensus? Is this venture worth continuing with?
