Sims 3 - Lots of pictures.

The Sims 3 is all the rage right now, among the Sims community. I've spent the last few days exploring it inside and out. Got the guide two days after I got the game. jadawin, my Dear Hubby, thinks I shouldn't need the guide at first, I should explore and go with trial and error. Well, he got his wish, when Game Spot shipped the guide two days after they shipped the game itself. Haha.

So my First Sim is a version of my Self. This is Starsha Simme, and you can see a small image of her in my Userpic. Her traits are: 1. Family Oriented, 2. Great Kisser, 3. Kleptomaniac, 4. Natural Cook and 5. Green Thumb

The RL me is NOT a kleptomaniac, but I love cooking and gardening and definitely am family oriented. Great Kisser? You'd have to ask hubby. *giggles*

My Sim Self, her name is Starsha Simme, and she moved into a large, empty lot in order to build her own house. I really enjoyed CAS this go-around. It takes a lot of time to tweak things just right, but I think my first Sim came out kinda pretty. She's not too thin, not too fat, somewhere in the middle. I like the ease with which you can recolour things like clothing and makeup and glasses and hair, with a few clicks of a mouse. I just wish there were more base styles for the clothing.

This is the house that Starsha built. Sorry for the clipping on the sides. The images are saving wide, since my monitor is really wide and I wanted them to be no bigger than 800x600. So I'm going to have to tweak the camera settings in game a bit. Build Mode RAWKS. I LOVE grabbing a wall and dragging it. It even drags the foundation, so you don't have to add foundation before resizing a room! I made a big upstairs, but put nothing in it, cause she doesn't need it yet. I just hate doing later add-ons. Yes I money-cheated, but I wanted to try everything without worrying about jobs and needs and stuff, so Motherlode was my salvation.

I LIKE that I'm finding familiar sims in their younger years. This is Kaylynn Langerak! Gosh even as a child she was wearing the black and white dress with a white bow in her hair. She picked the right vocation. :) I've run into Skip Broke as a child, Bella Bachelor, Mortimer Goth, and others that I can't remember right now.

Starsha was at the book store, when she spun up a wish to talk to Gunther Goth. I thought it would be funny if my Sim would romance him and eventually have an affair. However, he is very very faithful to Cordelia. The moment she tried a simple little flirt, he backed away and said Nope. I'm MARRIED. My Sim was disappointed, but respects his loyalty to his wife. ;)

Create-a-Style extends to nearly EVERYTHING. My Sim's favourite colour is purple, so of course her car has to be purple. She got it painted, at NO EXTRA COST! Yar!

She had just finished learning a new recipe at this point. She had no desire to get up and do anything, I had nothing queued up for her to do, and her needs were just fine. So she sat prim and proper like this. I thought it was a pretty pose, so snapped a shot.

Meet Gage Briody. We met him one afternoon walking in the park. Okay she was scoping for some kind of single male. Everyone she met was partnered! Then she ran into him. I don't much like bald sims, but hair grows back, right? So she chatted him up, found out he's single, Good, Loves the Outdoors and is Frugal. He seemed to enjoy talking to her, and they became fast friends. Then she asked him out to dinner. He showed up in a tuxedo! He came home with her afterward, and she confessed her attraction to him. He seems to have taken it quite well. She asked him to stay the night, and he accepted.

She excused herself to slip into something more comfy, and then invited him into her room. He rather enjoyed what he saw!

It didn't take long for them to wind up in bed. I LOVE the expression on his face. So lascivious!

The next day, she was walking on clouds. Here she is having a bubble bath. Once I figured out how to USE the bottle of bubble bath, it made it much easier.

He stayed for breakfast, and she made waffles. I like that they will use whatever fruit is in their inventory. Though sometimes the waffles or pancakes have fruit, sometimes they don't.

Uh oh. Guess they weren't using protection. :D Or my big fat hand clicked the baby button on purpose. Who knows. :D

It was very cute. She invites Gage over, and announces the pregnancy. His eyes got wide and he got very happy about it.

Then he calms down and gives her a big thumbs up, as if to play it cool "No girly squeals for me, I'm gonna be a dad, that's alright." She invited him to move in right after this, and he accepted.

OMG I sent him to Plan Outfit and he struggled to open the dang dresser, and fell right on his arse. Men, go figure. HAHA

See? Hair does grow back. He looks far more handsome with hair than he did with that bald head. Sorry, only Chris Daughtry can pull off that partially shaved haircut.

Gage really is attentive. He spins up wishes to listen or feel Starsha's tummy, or to give her a massage. He even found a coupon in the newspaper for a discounted Spa treatment to pamper his pregnant girlfriend!

Here's Gage in his truck, heading to his first day of work. He has a lifetime wish or goal or whatever it's called, to Become Creature-Robot Cross Breeder in the Science career track. Of course with a pregnant girlfriend at home, he occasionally spins up a wish to quit his job. Sorry bub, no can do. You have a Lifetime goal that requires you to work! :D

But still, he is ever so attentive to his love and their unborn baby. I LOVE that he keeps spinning up these wishes. Talk to tummy, rub tummy, listen to tummy etc.

Or maybe he just gets really turned on by pregnant women. :D She's not complaining, he keeps her from feeling unattractive after all!

He even stays near her when he's studying. Here he is reading a book on pregnancy, so he can be prepared for what's to come.

I got to her too late to take a snapshot of her starting labour. Here she is trying to run to the other side of the house. I made Gage take her to the hospital.

So they're in there, and all I can do is stare at these doors and wait. Or watch Bella Bachelor arguing with her dad, then playing with her dad. Make up your mind child.

Eventually momma Starsha emerges with Baby Tisha in her arms. It's a girl! Apparently having fed her lots of watermelon did the trick.

Just a moment after, Gage emerges with Baby Tina in his arms! TWINS. Mom and Dad are thrilled and even have a positive moodlet for having twins. Starsha got her wish to have a girl. She had two even! So I get them home, they each play/cuddle/feed the babies, then tuck them into their cribs. A friend says that babies in TS3 are more difficult, they were NOT kidding. OMG You have baby needs to worry about. They are selectable, have social, hygiene, bladder, hunger, energy needs, all needing watching. And they drop so quickly! Toddlers aren't any better, lemme tell ya.

One of my favourite things about Sims 2 is that when you sit two sims on a couch, or at a table, they start having a conversation. They have great facial animations, and you can interpret them any way you like. Here, I had to click on Chat on Sofa interaction, and I couldn't get them to look at each other. They kept having shifty-eyes while chatting about whatever they were chatting about. So much for having a great conversation picture in a story. HAH.

Uh oh! Or maybe not Uh Oh. Yes I clicked Try for Baby. Her lifetime wish thingy is to raise five children from babies to teenagers, so I had to get her moving with it. :)

Sigh. Stinky fridge food. Guess the fridge no longer preserves food forever and ever. There was an option on the Fridge pie menu to Throw Out Bad Food.

Okay, this baffles me. It's toddler transition time for the babies. I loved the animations in TS2 for it. Sing to the baby, tickle the baby, toss baby in air and let 'em spin out into a Toddler. Not here, nope. Sing, tickle, then...

Put baby bundle on FLOOR?!?!

Then the swaddled infant sits up in her blanket, spins around on the floor like a break-dancer and poof!

Bald redneck toddler emerges. Ugh, bald? No shirt? Puh-leeze! Instant trip to the dresser and mirror. At least you can have a baby select Plan Outfit and Change Appearance.

I shoulda taken a CAS shot of them after makeover, but they are MUCH better with longer hair. I HATE that there are FOUR selections for baby hair. Bald, peach fuzz, short boy hair, and shoulder-length girl hair. Sigh. But here's Poppa Gage teaching his precious to talk. He's a really caring, doting daddy, and I love it! First thing he does when he comes home from work is head to the baby's crib. If no needs are pressing, he just tucks them in.

And finally, gardening. Starsha is a Green Thumb gardener. She has lots of Unknown plants growing in there. Plus lettuce, grapes, potato, bell pepper, onion, and an apple and lime tree too. I think one of those is watermelon as well.

So overall, I am really enjoying the game. I'm glad I saw people's views before I got the game installed though. If I had gone into this thinking "OMG it's gonna replace Sims 2 and be so much better than it!" I would have been very very upset. But this is not a game to replace TS2. It's like when Castaway Stories came out, or the Sims Console games for PS2 and stuff came out. VERY much fun, but no way is it ever going to replace my Sims 2. :)
