About that squishiness....
I don't know. America is a place where power is power. I almost typed "America is a place where power is worshiped." but I paused and I'm not sure why. I think I'm worried about talking too much because words are so easily used, so easily read, and much too easily judged. Words are extraordinarily dangerous. They are physically easy to say, they are easy to interpret on the surface and they are the cause of misunderstanding, understanding, war, blood, death, and love. The way people communicate is so completely haphazard and dangerous, that it makes me want to not speak at all. Words spoken quickly are one hundred times worse than not saying anything at all. It is within the common knowledge of our culture (and most others) that one should "think before one speaks" and that "Silence is golden" But we don't *really* know this. I don't really know this, because if I did I probably wouldn't be typing right now. It makes me very nervous, because I think that the problems we have in the world today are the problems we have always had, and will always have because they are a direct result of the way people communicate. And I'm not sure how to change it.
