My suggestion is pretty simple:
Mods really really need to enforce the ALL of the rules consistently. Particularly and especially the one about not accepting/posting old secrets with stuff edited over them -- in this week's post alone, numbers 3 and 54 broke that rule. I don't know if they were submitted by the original posters of the secret, which made them technically "new", but they certainly didn't look "new" to me.

I know that I'm not alone on this, either -- submission posts 66 and 67, as well as several secrets from each resultant secret-post, highlight the need for consistent behavior from all mods across the board.

I don't care if you unscreen this or not; I'm posting it anonymously, after all.

Well i do have to apologize for this week. I was in a rush to post them as they were late as it was that i did not take the time to actually check the secrets myself.

We will have a greater care when we check secrets in the future.

I did notice that one obviously exceeded size limits this week (it was 750px wide). The no writing over old secrets has always confused me because it seems to be enforced sporadically.

Things happen, but the community is so big (and bitchy), that it doesn't help you guys when that type of thing happens.

The thing with the "no writing over secrets" rule might be that the mods don't always remember the secret, which is necessary to properly enforce this rule. We get HUNDREDS of secrets. 50-something, the one that wrote over an old Saltfucker secret? I didn't remember the base secret until somebody pointed it out.

I imagine that handling a community as prone to conflict as this one must be very difficult, so I appreciate both the work you do every week and this chance to express our suggestions ( ... )

My problem (speaking for myself only) with defining what is and is not a secret is that, well... it's pretty subjective, and I could see it getting more complicated than it needs to be. Also, being subjective means that each mod may interpret it differently, so it may lead to the rules being applied inconsistently. Sizing is completely different; either it's too big or it isn't. I would also hate for Simsecret to acquire a large number of seemingly arbitrary and draconian rules, a la customers_suck.

I know the bird secrets were annoying, and the people responsible have said that they won't do it again. Perhaps we should consider some rule regarding a large number of secrets that are obviously an attempt to spam/flood (I think either of those words is more suitable than "troll", because I don't think they were trolling).

I honestly don't mind a little bit of nonsense once in a while. It lightens things up when the anti-someone/somesite/something wank gets a bit too depressing. Like the wave of Frances Love we saw a few months back. Those were kind of fun. (Admittedly, they were more sims related than the bird ones, but still, it was random and spammy but in an enjoyable way). I've seen some in-jokes slipped in that probably don't make any sense to anyone else, but are still kind of fun to see. What gets annoying is when they take over. Like the birds.

This past week was obviously not the norm, but it's probably best to not let it become something that's encouraged or allowed.

Oh, it isn't. You should look at this week's sub post; Laurie said "NO!" to a bunch of Xenu/alien babby related secrets.

Honestly, I feel as if this comm has become one huge circlejerk or something, whether it's between a chat of some kind, or GOS, or whatever.

Case in point: all of the "bird" secrets in last night's post. Are those even secrets? It all seems like one big in-joke and I honestly have no idea what's going on. Other secret communities would file those kinds of things under "not a secret" without a second thought. Fourteen out of 110 secrets had a bird photoshopped onto them and some nonsensical phrase or quote or something on them, that's like 13% or something. Which is kind of dumb, imo. Shouldn't this be a place to post secrets instead of inside jokes that most of the Sims 2 Community won't understand?

I just think you guys might want to look into what counts as an actual "secret", because last night's post was disappointing. :/

(Screen or unscreen if you feel the need to.)

I completely agree about the bird ones. They all just seemed ridiculous. I scrolled through most of it because it made no sense.

You guys aren't the first too complain about this, I myself was also not impressed with the bird spam, we're going to start cracking down on spam secrets, I've already culled like 6 or so spam secrets from the newest submission post. Aliens to retaliate against the birds.

Simsecret has always been a circle jerk, and full of wank. However, the irrelevance of the bird secrets annoyed me too.

I have no idea what sort of roster system you guys use, or whether you have a comm just for the mods (like simsecretmods or something), but the last few weeks have had a lot of "oh the mod who was meant to do this didn't, so we have to do it at the last minute" going on. Just getting a more cohesive who's doing what would be good.

Yeah, we're trying to deal with that. We actually have a schedule to which we (are supposed to) adhere. It's not a matter of knowing who is supposed to post, but of them actually doing it (which was the case when Mike and I had to make last-minute posts; the ones who were SUPPOSED to do it did not). I don't see this happening many more times.

Seriously though. Communication is key, because hearing the blame game get played over and over gets exhausting, awak. :)

Communication isn't usually a big issue for us, it just seems like the last few weeks the 5 of us have all been all over the place at the exact same time.

...I feel as if I missed some meme that I was supposed to know about with all of the birds. I like the nonsense every once in awhile. It's random and kinda fun, it's just when its flooded it gets to be too much ( ... )
