Legacyville Cemetery - A Community Lot

Sep 27, 2010 07:28

That's right - it's not a sim!  I extracted this for this month's GOS theme (community) and thought I would share it here as well.

This is my Legacyville Cemetery, which is categorized as a community lot.  You may have glimpsed it while I was playing one of my legacies.

When creating it, I wanted to capture the atmosphere of a small graveyard in the southern Australian countryside (where I live) as opposed to a city cemetery.

However, unlike real life Australian cemeteries, this one has two sections.  One section is dedicated to sim graves, the other side is a pet cemetery.

There is a wall dividing the two sections and seperate entry gates for each.  Which is which is quite obvious - the pet section has several animal themed "monuments" and is the one with the lions guarding the gates.

Obviously, I had made a copy of it long before I ever populated it with real sim graves, which is the version I am uploading.  Rest assured that there are plenty of pretend graves!  It also has plenty of room for your own sims' gravestones as they occur.

It is surrounded by a windbreak of pines, which is quite common here in Australia.  Like most real cemeteries, there are no bathrooms.  There are a few benches for your sims to sit down or nap on if they get tired from looking at everything, though.  It's mostly filled with decorative objects, so your sims will peruse the gravestones, flowers left on graves, etc.

There is one open grave with a dead nanny yet to be buried inside.  After all, I wasn't trying to treat the place too seriously - I'd rather it be a little amusing than depressing!  To this end, a human statue has also set up shop just outside the gates.  Outside the fences surrounding the cemetery is dead grass.  This is placed to minimize the "glowing lot edge effect" if your sims are visiting at night.

Things you should know:
I have all EPs and SPs installed, so this will probably require them all.
If you have ACR installed, the open grave containing the dead nanny will attract sims wishing to woohoo and they will climb in for a hot tub like woohoo on top of said dead nanny.  I think it was cloned from the hot tub and ACR treats it as such.
