Today I headed to Pleasantview to play Jared Starchild for a few simdays.

On Tuesday morning, all Jared's hard work tending his tomato plant paid off in the form of a bronze gardening talent badge.  He was understandably excited - the guy loves his meagre garden, especially when it comes to harvest time!  He called his fiance Sam Thomas to tell her all about it, and later invited her over so they could spend time together.

The two enjoyed a friendly water balloon fight outside.  No water balloons actually found their targets, but they had a lot of fun!  It was followed by some general joking around and a very luxurious backrub for Sam on Jared's part.  He then had to head off to his evening class, after which he was so beat he decided to turn in for the night.

Jared continued his habit of calling Sam first thing Wednesday morning for a little chat.  However, he wasn't satisfied with just talking and asked her to come over again.  He later begged her to make him lunch - after all, she works in the culinary career and is a far better cook than he.  However, Sam wasn't in the mood for solid food - or any food at all!  She found a six pack of beer in the fridge and served it up, even drinking one herself.  Not a good idea for such a heavily pregnant woman, and Jared was far from impressed!

Sam: "What?  It's my body - I'll drink as many beers as I want!"
Jared: "... and I suppose I'm supposed to just sit back and smile while you poison our child?"
Sam: "Don't be stupid.  It'll be fine."
Jared: "Yeah, I guess it's real stupid to be concerned over the health of my child and my wife to be..."
Sam: "I don't have to stand here and listen to this.  I'm going home!"
And she did.  Poor Jared.  He downed several more beers in an attempt to forget the squabble, but they only made him angrier.

Brittany: "You idiot!  Only weirdos believe in aliens!  It amazes me how many sad losers they accept in to college nowadays..."
Jared: "Pfft, get off your high horse, princess.  If you really think the human race is so special and unique in this whole gigantic universe, I feel sorry for you."
The anger had to come out somewhere and when Brittany Upsnott made fun of Jared's belief in extraterrestrial life, it found it's target.

Jared: I miss Sam.  I didn't mean to upset her, but damnit, I couldn't just sit there and accept her drinking when she's carrying my child.  It's just not right!

The beer continued to take it's toll on the visitors.  Townie Nathen Hourvitz overindulged and in a drunken rage attacked Jared!  Jared was baffled, but took it all in stride and kicked Nathen's ass.  Who did he think he is, starting a fistfight with Jared in his own home?  As soon as he'd beaten Nathen down, he ran off to his final exam before he could start on him again!  Unfortunately, he'd spent the entire semester worrying more about Sam than about studying and he was put on academic probation.
First thing Thursday, Jared made a call to Sam to make amends.

Jared: "Of course I love you!  Baby, stop being silly.  You're the sunshine in my otherwise cloudy life.  I'm really sorry if I made you feel like I don't care about you.  I said those things because I care..."
Sam: "Yeah, I know.  I shouldn't have done it.  I have a hell of a headache this morning.  Is it okay if I don't come by today?  I just want to relax in bed with a good book."
At least it seemed she'd learned her lesson.  Speaking of lessons, Jared was getting a little worried about his own.  He forked out some of the simoleons he had saved up and purchased a desk, a new chair and a laptop for the spare bedroom.  However, he didn't really feel like sitting down to write a term paper....

Luckily, Jaki Larson was wandering by the house and Jared cornered her and flattered her in to writing his term paper for him.  Sure, she didn't know a whole lot about art, but she thought she could swing it.  She finished off the entire paper while Jared was in class.  But a single term paper won't be enough to earn a passing grade!  Will Jared do any study or flunk out?
