I went to see Mum again this evening. They've taken the bandage off of her forehead, to reveal the site of the cut (just a bit above & to the outside of her right eye) -- where she's had 5 stitches -- as well as more bruising. She was well enough to walk around the [small] ward for a bit earlier today, using a walking frame, to introduce herself to the other four patients who are in her room. They're talking about sending her home on Tuesday, if all goes well: She's been promised some home-care, although I don't know how long that would be for this time (as it was only for a few months when she had it after her heart-attack back in the '90s), and says that she's being assessed for various forms of assistance...

They have some sort of rota to determine which of the patients can choose what to watch on the room's television, and Mum managed to get control of the set for two consecutive hours yesterday evening: When I spoke with her yesterday she said that, whether they wanted it or not, her room-mates would be getting two hours of football... but as as it happened the rest of them were already asleep by 7.30 when her chosen programme started anyway.

Mum notices that another patient has been fitted with a drip from not one bottle but two; she observes the shapes & relative sizes of those bottles... and then, politely, enquires
"Gin and tonic?" ;-)
