I am victorious!

There has been a mouse in our van for some indeterminate period of time. I've known about it since Monday when I first found something chewed on. I finally caught it this morning. I really should have perservered with my first thoughts and found the type of trap I originally had in mind. The first day I discovered the problem I ended up getting some sticky paper style traps. Those just got chewed on. Still not finding what I was looking for I got some old school Acme looking spring traps. Those were never set off. The mouse just ate the bait off of them. Yesterday I tried the brand new Lowes here in town and almost immediately found the two door cage style trap that I had initially been looking for. It didn't work the first time around either. This style has a door on either side and a platform in the middle to place the bait on. Doing it that way the bait was just removed from the platform with out springing the trap. On my next attempt I left one of the doors closed and put the bait on the far side such that it would have to climb over the platform instead of just pulling the bait off as it seems to have prior to that point. this morning I found a mouse much smaller than we had been anticipating caught in the trap.

We still don't have any idea how it got in the van in the first place, nor exactly how long it had been there. After work today I went and released it out in a field, where I hope a hawk eats it soon. I'm not bitter, why do you ask?
