Veda: Hollywood BACC Prologue

So I've been having a ton of trouble with Slideshare not letting you lovely people read my stories. So I'm going to slowly reupload them here. Starting with Veda's prologue, because it's short. Some minor editing has been done.

Hello everyone! Of course I’m starting a new challenge. Another BACC, a Hollywood BACC.
Wait! Don’t run off to California just yet! Life’s not all sunshine and stars. Well maybe some stars. Hollywood3015 at Boolprop wrote a new spin on the BACC challenge. I’m helping playtesting the rules. Looks like some things will be harder and some easier. Rules are on Boolprop!
Time to begin!

Here is Veda, named after one of my newest geckos.

Up on the hilltop are the settlers’ homes. Some temporary shelters against the worst of the weather.

It was Joyce Thomas that thought of the idea of moving to Veda. She had always been driven. She gave birth to her son, Tyler, and later her daughter, Julie, on her own. Their father an unknown donor at the sperm bank. Now that she was conquering motherhood, the next step was founding her own town. She called some friends she knew and convinced them to join her in the wilds that was to be Veda.

David Summers went to high school with Joyce, they kept tabs on each other after. When she said she wanted to found her own town, he jumped on the chance to come along. He wanted to be an architect, but there were few opportunities in their home town. He dragged his younger brother Samuel along. He was responsible for Samuel since their parents had died.

A/N: Samuel is technically a teen, he’ll be aged down once they’re on the lot.

Chrys Linden, a local witch, worked at the same law firm as Joyce. She told him she was leaving the firm and he talked his wife into giving up nearly everything they owned to move out to Veda. Except their teenage servant Thistle. Someone has to take of their young daughter Daisy, while his wife Magnolia and he helped found the town.

A/N: Thistle will be aged down like Samuel. I just wanted him to be unrelated to the Lindens.

Amber Erde and her adopted daughter, Noah, lived across the hall from Joyce’s apartment. Amber jumped at the chance to move out of her cramped apartment. She knew the new town would need a fresh supply of home-grown fruit. She saw a chance to have her own fruit stand at last.

It took two days of bus rides to get to the camp grounds. Plus three hours of hiking.
“This is it, our new home.” Joyce said.
“This is it? Where’s our playground.” Julie asked looking around.
“There’s not playground here yet baby. But Noah lives across the street. You can invite her over to play.”

Joyce told everyone to meet at her place before going to their own homes. She had a few minor details to hammer out with the adults.

“Thanks so much coming Chrys!”
“No problem, Darling. Shall we get to business, Magnolia is anxious to see her new home.”

“Noah!!!!” Julie exclaimed seeing her friend.
“Julie! You’re here!”

While the kids played, the adults reluctantly sat down in the dust to hammer the minor details out.
“So I stopped in Pine Grove on the way here. The mayor agreed to send a bus to pick up the kids for school.” Joyce said to start things off.

“Magnolia and I will take care of the bringing in the water lines. We have Thistle to watch Daisy for us.” Chrys announced.
“Thistle is expected to go to school too, Chrys.” Joyce politely reminded him. “I know he’s just your servant, but we need him to be educated.”
“Of course, Joyce.” Magnolia smiled. “We’ll make sure he gets on the bus in the morning.”

“Samuel and I are pretty handy with tools. I’ll look for an apprenticeship in Pine Grove as an architect. Maybe get the houses built before winter. Samuel reads engineering magazines. He wants to take a stab at getting the electricity coming in.” David injected before Joyce could say anything more about Thistle.
“Sounds like a plan there. Let me know if he needs help. I can able call Pine Grove.” Joyce smiled.

Amber spoke softly, but Joyce always made sure to listen. “Noah and I love gardening. I brought seeds with me. We’ll make sure everyone has enough food.”
“You told me that Amber.” Joyce smiled happily “Pine Grove in shipping in some fruit trees for you too.”
“Thank you.” Amber smiled back.

“That settles everything, doesn’t it?” Chrys asked.
Joyce nodded, “I think so. I’ll be assisting Pine Grove’s mayor as soon as he lets me know that he needs me.”

“I want to be the best Mayor Veda could ever have.”

“Tyler look over there!” Samuel shouted.
The kids got to know each other better while the adults talked.
“What?”

“This!” Samuel said.
“Frammit!”

Joyce made a couple of plates of hotdogs to feed everyone. It would be good for them to hang around and get to know each other. They all knew her but didn’t know each other at all.

A few people to the long bus ride and hike to check out the new neighborhood.
“Hi I’m Joyce.”
“Kaylynn, nice campground you have here.”
“Thanks. David came out a week ago and built everything up for us.”

After a successful first day, Joyce sent everyone home. Their new lives had officially started and they had some hard work ahead of them.

That’s for this chapter. Thank you so much reading. Silver Bend and the Pokémon Legacy are still going. I have a chapter for each in the works. I will hopefully have those out before the end of the year. I am looking forward to playing Veda and seeing how the little campground develops. The rest of Joyce’s week will be up next.
