Unfortunately, I have not been back to the gym since I got sick. It's been over a week away and it's killing me. Amanda and I are heading out there in a few minutes, though, so I'm just going to hop right back up on that horse and get to it.
I gained weight this week. I expected that, though. No movement, no nothing. I tried to keep it all together, but I went out for St. Patrick's Day and drank a little way too much. It was 1 1/2. I know that I can bounce back from that easily, but it is still disheartening.
The Borders in Milford is closing and so Dave and I have been heading out there every couple of days to check on the sales. I found The Biggest Loser 30-Day Jump Start on our last trip. It was marked down to only $7 and since the show has been my inspiration, I decided that I just had to have it. I've been reading it everyday and I am preparing to begin a 30-day journey as guided by Jillian Michaels and Bob Harper. The book outlines a workout and diet schedule including recipes and challenges users to try everything. I'm going to sit down and write up shopping lists for each week so that I am prepared in the kitchen. Anything that I can cook in advance, I will do. I plan on getting everything together on Sundays so as to make it through the week with ease.
I also picked up Weight Work for Women, a book that describes and depicts about 50 or 60 workouts that can be done at home with only the body, a chair, stability ball, hand weights. To make things more challenging over time, there are suggestions for upping the weight of the hand weights and adding ankle weights. I've decided that I am going to begin by choosing 3 different exercises each day to perform on my own, at home, in my room until I am adept at performing each exercise in the book. From there, I will tackle some of the suggested workout routines outlined in the book. These include, upper body, lower body, back and stability, flexibility, and beach body among others. I really want to mix up my workouts to keep it exciting and to be sure that I am not just focusing on one area. My goal is to become a healthier Tiffany, I've just got to take this one step at a time.
Hopefully the combination of my "jump start" and the workouts for women will push me over the hump and get me to that golden 23 (or more!) before my birthday, but if not, I know that everything I am doing will only benefit me in the long-run.
Feeling healthy and feeling good about yourself is not a luxury - it's an absolute necessity.
