I have not weighed myself today. I will not weigh myself today. In the past, I have gotten so caught up in weighing myself every chance I could that I think that it only hindered my progress. My goal is to weigh myself once a week. I will then calculate percentage of weight lost, etc..
This morning I found a website (
lowcarbdiets.about.com/library/blbodyfatcalculator.htm) where you can calculate your body fat percentage (as opposed to your BMI. I am not sure of just how accurate it is, but I will use it as a point of measurement. Even if this is not indicative of my actual body fat percentage, it will be a measurement that I can keep an eye on and monitor progress. It is nothing but another tracking tool. According to my measurements today, based on my height, neck, hips, and waist, I am 63.5% fat.
Normally, this new information would do nothing but disgust me. Today, I am using it as new motivation. It's time for me to step up and do it. It's now or never.
My legs and arms are aching from last night's Zumba class. Amanda may have been right when she expressed concern that I was jumping into something intense too soon. I won't let it get me down. I may be aching today, but I'm interested in it and Patrick (the instructor) explained ways of modifying the class to be level-appropriate. I will make more of an effort to do this from now on.
Today, I will lay low. I will watch what I'm eating and do some stretches. I will also do some crunches as my abdominals are not achy. My goal is to keep going and not let the ache get me down. However, I know that I must be realistic and take care of myself. I cannot push myself too far. From all of my readings, I have learned one thing ... muscles grow through rest. The pain that I am feeling is my muscles resting and I need to let it happen, do not push them too far for that is how injuries occur.
It's Day 2 and I am motivated. I am working to become a better, stronger, healthier ME.
