Y'know, I thought the song was gonna be another "Keep Your Hands Off My Girl" for me, but unlike that song which never grew on me, LIHB did. I was as surprised as anyone.
But what REALLY gave me my faithe back in GC - and this comes from a fan who found them through Chronicles and who considers that her favorite album BECAUSE this band has always gotten to me emotionally - is when I was given the honor of listening to a track called "Let the Music Play." I can only tell you that like SO many GC songs that have made me feel less alone in the world & have gotten me through some really tough times, THAT new song got to me for where I was at in my life, 3 months ago.
And then they released "Counting the Days" on YouTube set to a video made up of home footage, and again, it's more 'old school' GC in the sense that the song is ABOUT something and I could totally relate to it. If you haven't heard it, I recommend looking up the video (if for no other reason than my 2 second cameo ;P).
Hopefully, hearing that song will stir the GC fan in you like "Let the Music Play" did for me :)
I've been a fan of theirs since The Young and the Hopeless and I like literally clung to them because of what they brought out of me emotionally and they were there in a sense when I needed something like that.
I'm torn between GMR and Chronicles as being my favorite album of theirs.
I'm hoping this album will grow on me like GMR did.
I really think Cardiology is going to be very special.
The Twins are supposed to be coming to IL later this month for an acoustic performance where I think they will be previewing some new tracks? Or hoping they will :P I know I can pre-order the album.
I just know that after seeing them back in June for the first time in four years, my GC fangirl got stirred and thanks to a dear friend who is hxc about them, I've learned what's planned for Cardiology and I am really really excited for it :)
With GC, it's always been their lyrics that have gotten to me and the lyrics I've heared (aside from LIHB) on two tracks? *tear* Cheesy but true.
