'Kids Say The Darndest Things'...:-D

...Okay, this *may* be one of those, you really
'Had_To_BE_*There*', kind of stories, & I'm _certain_ that
it's a *LOT* funnier to those that actually *KNOW* my
extremely precocious will-be-6-years-old-Wednesday, Trinity,
BUT, regardless; this story from Thursday night has resulted
in *much* belly-laughing for my family & friend's, & I'd like
to share it & 'preserve it', here...:-)

I'm happy about the fact that, I've raised a 'color blind'
family, in that, in addition to -never- having seen the
~slightest~ *glint* of the ugliness of racism among my
children, they in fact seem quite oblivious &, certainly in
regard to their personal relationships/friendships; basically
'apathetic', about any differences in skin tone or ethnicity.

Well, Thursday eve, the twins & I went downstairs & assumed
our nightly, couch 'cuddle position', only to discover - much
to their dismay - that, cartoons were '_not_an_option_',
as Chelsea was already in the middle of watching a program, &
it was already quite close to their bedtime...

I'm not sure as to exactly what show Chels was watching, as
we really only caught a small part of it, before it was time
for our nightly 'story/song/tucking_in, ritual', but; it
entailed a 20-year-old black woman, discussing both, her
children, & some of the aspects that were germaine to her personal
experience of 'Black culture'. The twins actually listened much more
attentively than I ever would've expected, based upon the fact that it was
neither animated, nor, a 'children's show'.
Soon, then, bedtime arrived, as it invariably seems to...

Trin was uncharacteristically quiet, & seemed deep in
thought, as we were getting ready for bed, & she finally piped
up & said, oh-so-seriously; "Mommy, do you know what? There is
one black man, especially, that I am ~always~ really
going to love"... While kissing Savanna goodnight, & tucking
the covers in around her, I responded with, "Oh? And who would
that be, Honey...?"...and, without hesitation, & with her
serious little voice beginning to crack with emotion, she
said; "MY DADDY!!"...

Which...umm...given the fact that, their Daddy is
caucasian, came as a bit of a shock to me!! ;-D
( Think; 'Eric Roberts', as Joe looks a lot like
him.) I said, "Umm...Trin, Daddy *isn't*
Black", and she proceeded to argue with me, until, ~finally~,
my little extremely fair-skinned, redheaded daughter, ended up
settling for, "Well...he's Blacker than US!!" LOLOL!! :-D

Joe _DOES_ happen to be something like, '1/5 Native
American', & he *does* actually get rather TAN, during the
Summer months...BUT...mistaking him for African_American,
would be a bit *more* than, 'a stretch'!!
...She was just SO sincere, & SO adamant...

...I ended up laughing sooo hard, that I had literal tears,
running down my face, whereas, Chelsea laughed to the point
wherein, her stomach & ribs were actually hurting her...
We had great fun sharing the story with Joe, when he picked
the girls up for the weekend, and - other than looking a bit
askance at me, & inquiring as to whether, perhaps, 'she knew
something that HE didn't know' - he got almost as big
of a kick out of it, as we did. :-D
