Not the new year just yet, BUT....

I've come to share one of the things that seems to make me itch to write most: movies.

Perhaps I should elaborate on that...

So tonight was the second time I've gone to see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt. 1, and I have to say for the sake of the fangirl in me, that I thoroughly enjoy this one far beyond any of the preceding movies. The scenes are far more intense, and have managed to provoke more emotion out of me than any other movie I've seen before. Maybe it's because I've been so invested in this magical series for the past ten or so years, but I come out of this movie feeling both emotionally exhausted and inspired.

Movies have a tendency to set off a spark in the creative vortex of my mind. The characters that exist in my head, and sometimes on paper, seem to come out to play whilst I'm taking in cinematic pleasure, and whisper in my ear, "You know, that could make for an interesting twist for me..." "This could very well happen instead of this... or maybe this... or maybe even this..." "This is a brilliant theory... run with it... pretty please, run with it, I think this could be the one..."

With this film, I finally feel inspired to do something I haven't done in YEARS, and that would be writing fanfiction. Already, the scenes I want to write are swirling around in my head, my characters voicing their opinions on what is happening to them, where they fit in, why they matter, etc. Admittedly, it's a little overwhelming. I don't quite know where to start, or how to start for that matter.

But the main point here is... I want to write! I am literally trembling with excitement, anxious for a piece of paper and pen, a blank word document upon which I can sit, and hopefully let the words flow out with ease and gusto, turning into something spectacular. Something magical.

If anybody is out there reading this, and in any way, shape, or form, considers themselves to be a writer, even a dabbler, answer me this... what inspires you to write? What provokes your most creative side and coaxes you to your computer, your notebook, anything, to transcribe what exists only in your mind?

writing, movies, harry potter, random
