‘Survival of the fittest’, that’s pretty much the motto of the world as we know it. Just a thought, how would it be if we change it around a little and give a new motto “One for all and all for one”. A society based on community and fellowship rather than individualism. No man is an island after all right.
Growing up in a little town where everybody knew everybody, it was very hard for me to cope with a world where you are forced not to rely on anyone. You should be able to survive without any support system. While I do believe that this system will make you a stronger person. And its the safer option, to stay away from others business. I am still left with the thought, cant we all care a little more?
It sounds simple, but take it as a life challenge. Maybe ask someone, a colleague, classmate, relative, a cashier, receptionist, just someone you see today, if they are ok. While walking through a hallway in office/school, don’t just try to ignore the person walking in your direction, how about just flash that smile. If you see one of your colleagues/classmates sitting by themselves in the school/office cafeteria, try to sit with them or offer them a seat near you, let them join into your conversations. When there is a colleague/classmate sitting alone in their seat during break time…ask them the magic question “Are you ok”.
This might sound simple (and maybe even cheesy) but it will mean a lot to someone who is going through some rough patches.
Apparently, yesterday (October 7th) was ‘are you ok day’!! It is a mission that was started with the aim of reducing the number of suicides. According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, on average there is a suicide that happens every four hours. Most of these cases, are caused because of feelings of isolation and depression.
So why not? Lets care a little. We all have the ability to change this world, one life at a time!
Spread the love, leave no one behind.
PS: Btw I was saving this for my Nobel Peace Prize speech last year, then they gave it to Obama!!
PSS: There is always next year for sure
PSSS: So Are YOU ok?

If you see someone without a smile, give them yours :)
