What the heck...I'll do this too.
It goes like this: you go to page seven (or seventy-seven) of your WIP and select seven lines to post. Then you tag seven other people to play.
Finding 7 stories was easy. Finding 7 lines was much harder.
All the Salt in the Ocean (notes: Kono as a serial killer. In the plotting stages of this, I completely fell in love with this story and how I was going to present it. But this is seriously super rough. it was all stream of conscious writing.)
When she was 17, Kono was raped by a man in the Navy and no one believed her, not even her “best friend” Mary Ann McGarrett. Every two years, on the anniversary of the day of her rape, she exacts her revenge on those who didn’t believe her.
First, the Doctor, Doris McGarrett, who checked her and dismissed her rape claims because of the people she hung out with.
Second, the police officer, John McGarrett, who pretended to take her statement about the attack, but never followed up.
Then she saw a picture hanging on the wall of the McGarrett house - the man who attacked her standing next to her best friend’s brother, both wearing naval uniforms. Kono decides then, she not only will she kill the man who raped her, but also the son of the cop who didn’t believe her, she might even kill the daughter, her former best friend, as well.
Detective Danny Williams was just handed a new case. Retired HPD officer John McGarrett widower, 2 grown children - 1 a Navy SEAL and the other living on the mainland and both to be back on the Islands by the end of the week for the funeral.
Steve McGarrett just found out his father was murdered. His sister contacts him and asks that he meet her at the family home to discuss final arrangements for their father. After his father’s funeral, he finds out that his best friend, Nick Taylor, was murdered the previous year. He’s shocked by this, but more shocked that the case is currently unsolved. He finds out that the investigating officer was his father’s former trainee officer, Chin Ho Kelly, and basically badgers the man into telling him about the case. Information Steve provides leads to the case being reopened.

And So This is Christmas (Danny/Steve; Steve's redeployed around Christmas threatening Danny's plans for them)
All eyes were expectedly on Danny and Steve, waiting to hear their plans.
Steve shook his head, “I got nothing.” He said.
“That, oh boyfriend of mine, is where you are mistaken.” Danny said with a clap of his hands, “We’re leaving a week from Wednesday and going to visit my folks in Jersey.”
“Nice…going to visit the in laws.” Kono said with a laugh.
Steve shot Kono a glaring look, “Danny’s family, yes. Hardly in laws.”
“Yet…” Kono and Lori said at the same time.
“Have fun.” Chin added, “They’re sure to love you as much as Grace does.”

The Coolest Man I know (Steve-centric, this is apart of my epic H50/Magnum, PI/Murder She Wrote crossover. This story takes place in A hui hou kakou (until we meet again) which is the H50 and Magnum, PI part of the series)
Somehow Magnum talks TC into taking Steve and Robbie Jackson, the son of one of his clients, up in one of his helicopters for a mini aerial tour of the Island. Robbie’s never been to Hawaii, let alone up in a helicopter, so he’s really excited and taking in all the sites that Steve and TC are pointing out.
After the helicopter ride, lunch and a trip back to Robin’s Nest, the boys are practically knocked on a beach blanket near the tidal pools where Magnum and entertaining Robbie’s mother, Claire. By seven that evening, the boys have been fed, Magnum is preparing to take Steve back home.
“Thanks for keeping Robbie company,” Magnum says to Steve. “I heard the two of you really hit it off.”
Steve kind of shrugs his shoulders. “It was fun showing him the sights. TC sure does know a lot.”
Magnum laughs and ruffles Steve’s hair. “That he does.” He pulls up in front of the McGarrett house. “You were a great help to me. Robbie’s mom and I got a lot of work done.”
Steve tried not to roll his eyes as he got out of the car. “Thank TC again for me,” Steve says as he runs up the path to where his mother is waiting for him at the open front door.
Magnum honks the horn a couple of times as he drives off and Doris ushers Steve inside as she asks about his day.

E Malama He Kane Hewa'ole (To Protect an Innocent Man) (Danny/Steve; second story in my epic H50/MPI/MSW crossover)
“For all of hurt that Steve has been through in his life, you don’t need to add to it. He’s finally finding happiness...I think it would be best for you to start keeping some distance.”
"Aunt Jess, you don't understand..."
"You're right. I don't understand. How could any mother leave her two young children and husband without so much as a second thought and let them believe she was dead for nearly twenty years."
"I did what I thought was best for my family!"
"No! You did what was best for you, Doris Ann. Rather than turn to your husband for help, you turn to his best friend and swore him to secrecy! What kind of woman does that?!"

Grace Fell From Heaven (H50; Danny/Steve+Grace. To be honest, I've completely forgotten where I was going with this, but this is what I have)
Steve and Danny met nearly four years ago at a surf competition. Steve was helping Mamo, a long time family friend, at his surf shack. Danny was one of the vendors hired by the competition organizers to sell food to the participants and spectators. During the four day event, Steve stopped by Danny’s booth a couple of times a day. At first it was to try the pizza, (Danny said it was better than the stuff that was passed off as pizza at a lot of the other booths, and didn’t have a lick of fruit on it), then his next visit, Steve tried the hot dogs (again, Danny said they were nothing like the monstrosity of the Puka Dog).
After the surf competition was over, Steve found himself going five miles out of his way to go to Danny’s diner almost daily for dinner. He would arrive an hour before closing and would always ordered the same thing: two slices of pizza - one cheese and one sausage, a couple of beers and some green tea rolls. After about the fifth visit, Danny was wise to what Steve was doing.
On the sixth night, Danny pulls out the chair on the other side of the table that Steve is sitting at and sits down, “If you wanted to go out on a date, you should have just asked.” He said as he grabbed the slice of cheese pizza.
Steve laughed, “Well this way seemed like the best way to avoid being rejected.”
Danny raised an eyebrow, “Somehow I find it hard to believe anyone would reject you.”
Steve shrugged some, “It’s happened…on occasion.”
Their date nights continued. Not always at Danny’s diner. And not always at night.

But Why Daddy? (Danny/Steve; this story needs to be finished. I've decided that the chapter this part comes from is going to be the last chapter.
The day finally arrived when Steve had to take Keilana to her grandparents’, Mark and Jean, house for an extended stay. He didn’t know how he was going to be able to leave her there, but he knew that he had to because there was no one else available to watch her. Danny was preparing to go back to New Jersey to testify in a Grand Jury hearing, Mary was in the midst of working on her Masters of Social Work degree and Rachel was in the last few months of her pregnancy and wouldn’t have the energy to keep up with a 3 year old.
At noon, Steve pulled to a stop in front of the Rollins house, parked his car and looked at Danny, “I’m doing the right thing, right?” he asked
Danny smiled and nodded his head. “You know you are,” he said. “Keilana will be fine and Mark and Jean said they’d send you daily e-mail updates while you’re in San Diego.”
“I’d prefer hourly reports…” he said with a laugh.
“Don’t even start with me.” Danny laughed, “You’re lucky that they suggested daily updates and not weekly.”
“I know, I know.” He said with a sigh.
Danny turned and looked at Steve, “Babe, she’ll be fine. It’ll be like an extended sleep over for her. I’m sure she’ll get to see Grace and Rachel like she does.”

McGarrett’s Island (sequel to
Restaurant at the End of Piikoi Street where Steve's left the Navy and entered into politics; but then leaves when his father is murdered and his sister goes missing. in this story, he's basically pushed back into politics; this story also becomes Danny/Steve)
“When are you going back to Washington?” Mary asked as she placed a cup of coffee in front of her brother.
The breakfast crowd was just dying down at the restaurant and there would be about an hour of rest before the lunch crowd and police officers came in. Mary slid into the booth across the table from her brother.
“I’m not,” Steve said quietly
Mary looked at him. “What? Why? I thought you liked being there?”
Steve shrugged his shoulders. “You know politics was never my thing, but then when I retired from the Navy, I got in it by accident. When Dad had his heart attack and I came back to help take care of him, I went to a lot of the city meetings with him. I never realized how much people hated how nothing was being done about the problems they felt were important about where they live. Being in DC wasn’t going to help with that. I need to do something here.”
“What are you saying Steve?” Mary asked as she looked her brother over.
“I’m saying that I’m not going back to Washington,” he repeated.
Mary rolled her eyes. “Yeah, I got that part. But what else are you saying?”
Steve looked at his sister and gave her a ghost of a smile. “As soon as I know, you’ll be the third person I tell.” He leaned across the table and kissed her cheek. “I gotta get going. Meeting Danny for lunch.” He got up, slid out of the booth, pulled some money from his pocket and left it on the table before exiting the restaurant.
