Racism is dead my ass

Apr 23, 2007 23:49

The idea that racism is a thing of the past is bullshit. People just hide it better (Thanks Adriel). Sometimes they don't even hide it because they think that the people that they are hanging out with are just as racist as they are. What would you do if you found out that someone that you thought was a good person had these kinds of ideas? What if they were one of your oldest friends? Would you stand up to them? Would you continue to hang out with them?

I have spent the better part of four years trying to educate myself against this level of bullshit but as you can see it is impossible. Ignorance exists everywhere no matter how insulated you think you are from it. Personally, I am not trying to limit anyones freedom of speech. I believe that we all have the right to say whatever we want. What we don't have is the right to have our thoughts published in books or articles, or broadcasted over the radio or television. That is where I draw the line.

XXX stands for the Douchebag who I am choosing to protect this last time.
