This was a day I decided to just give to myself. After all the court stuff, school exams and projects, and money issues I just needed a "decompression day" for myself. So I answered some e-mail and did some other junk on-line, and then Marty and I went out for a while.
First we stopped at Wally-World so I could post some of the EDD funds to the card I use to pay my bills and everything. Because there were so many EDD checks, their system choked on them, so I have to wait a few days to deposit the rest. (I was going to try to throw them all into a checking account somewhere, anyway, so that wasn't a big deal. I just hate banks so much now, I don't know where I want a savings account. . .) After that we stopped over at the Dollar Tree and picked up a few things (that's a great place to shop for toiletries and stuff like that), and then we went into the adjacent Salvation Army thrift shop, and Marty found a great reversible jacket there. He ALWAYS finds the best stuff!
By then it was near lunchtime, so I told Marty he choose whatever place he wanted to go. We were heading toward a restaurant we call "Stonehenge" (that's not it's name; it's like "Stonebrook" or something but we can never remember what the real name is), and along the way we found Ninja Sushi. That sounded kind of neat, so we stopped there, and -- wow! What great food! We only ordered three different sushi platter thingies -- A Moonchild roll (with shrimp and crabmeat), a Wild Thing roll (with salmon and avocado) and a Choo-Choo roll (with fish and roe, and I think there was freshwater eel draped across the top of it). All of it was presented beautifully, and was super fresh and VERY yummy. I think it took us about 5 minutes to eat all of it! Hah! I also had an Asahi beer (and I hardly ever drink, but, what the heck), and it tasted soooooo good. Y'know, there are days when a cold beer just "does it" for you... What a nice experience! They're on our "we'll go there again" list for sure!

In the parking lot there was a classic Mustang parked by the restaurant, so Marty tucked one of his car club business cars under the windshield wiper; never hurts to try!
After lunch we stopped in at Office Depot, so Marty could get some supplies for his club, and I could get some stuff for my computer like a new mouse and an ink cartridge for my printer. Right next door was Home Depot, so we went over there and Marty got some lumber, bolts and glue he needed for the car club... For our day of rest, we were pretty industrious!
Then it was back home to collapse with the critters for a while before starting an early supper, reading e-mails and watching crap on TV. (The joys of life!)
Legal Stuff: I got an e-mail from the FBI in Texas saying I'm now also on their list as a victim of the fraud ('cause one of the bad guys was working out of there), and today I got an e-mail from Matthew Stegman of the US Attorney's Office thanking me for my thank you letters to the US Attorney's office and to the FBI. Hello Ms. Hanson,
Thank you for the nice letter to our US Attorney. A copy was forwarded to me, as I am the prosecutor on the case. I also saw the nice letter to the editor and made sure Peter was aware of it as well. Thanks again.
Matt

The "letter to the editor" he's talking about was published (and edited down considerably) in the Sacramento Bee newspaper and read:
Thanks go to FBI for scam case
Re "$2.7 million loan scam alleged" (Page B6, May 22): I lost my home of 20-plus years, my job, my health insurance and my pets because of the scammers, and had to move from Shasta County to Sacramento, where my brother took me in. The FBI jumped on the case. Special Agent Peter Jackson did a fantastic job. Thank God for the FBI.

I just got a note from Rebecca (Duct Tape) who asked me to pass on the information I had on the FBI to her because she thinks she knows someone else who was scammed. So I sent that off to her, and she wrote back: "I got a hold of him. Thank you. Hopefully this lady won't lose her home the way you did. He is helping her. Thanks again. Damn you always make me look good!!! He-heh-he, it was nice to be someone's hero today."
Jean Luc: Hey! Patrick Stewart (Jean Luc Picard, ST:TNG) was KNIGHTED by the "old queen" of England! Good for him!
