we begin our story at a fairly old age. most of my spills as a child were scraped knees, bruised legs.
1. freshman in high school. i was turning my bike down onto one of the creek paths. i didn't turn tight enough and instead slammed into the chain-link fence on the right side of the path. then, i proceeded to fall off my bike and skid down the incline, almost landing in the creek.
2. junior in high school. i was walking up the 260 hallway stairs and i tripped up. i hit my right knee right on the concrete and to this day, i still have an indentation from where i bruised.
3. freshman in college. i was going downstairs (on the outside) at the english house to meet o'leary for a meeting. i didn't realize the outside stairs were covered in ice. i slid to the bottom, bruised both hips and my left knee and lied on the ground for about twenty minutes before i could pick myself up.
4. junior in college. jess, katie, and i were going shopping. i stepped off the curb by the hansen student center and magically fell. like, seriously didn't trip or anything -- just suddenly went boom. they laughed so hard, they cried.
5. senior in college. my mom was picking me and laura up for a weekend home. we stopped in walgreen's to get something to drink. after coming out of the store, i walked back to the car and literally SLIPPED ON A BANANA PEEL and fell onto my bottom.
6. senior in college. okay, at least this time, i was drunk. but i wore flip-flops because i knew i was going to be drunk and didn't want to trip and fall and i did anyways. jessica's brother had to help pick me up.
7. graduate student. pace bus. last wednesday. i'm still bruised.
8. last night. o'hare airport, trying to find my sister because the bus driver dropped her off somewhere random. i was on the escalator and managed to trip up it, landing on my upper right thigh and bruising myself with stripes AND cutting myself through my jeans again without ripping the pants.
i am hardcore. and i hope you're all laughing by now.
in other news...
1. eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee,
scriptfrenzy may be opening today or tomorrow (most likely tomorrow, haha, knowing our wonderful nano team)!
2. i have *FINALLY* changed my username over at
nanowrimo and i am *FINALLY* simplykatie over there too. i've only been waiting to change this since the week after i named myself. hahaha. now watch me forget my log-in. ::snickers::
3. i'm working on updating my websites. but the world *HATES* me.
a. my disk re-formatted itself between home and here, which means no new layouts. ::whines::
b.
my domain is still full, with no space despite deleting a lot of pictures/stuff i don't need off of it.
c. since the domain is full i can't do anything -- even upload a 1 kb file to add melrose onto the list of sites i maintain.
d. i've done everything i needed to do on
fallen words and therefore, i have nothing to do at work. (veiled lives, nano2006 is now up and coded on the site, up to what i last posted on
50k_or_bust.) ::whine::
4. this does mean that my galleries in lj-land,
scrapbook are all titled, tagged, and annotated. new galleries include the "renthead" and "jessica's feet" gallery. i've also updated the library's gallery with stuff i found on my domain and cleaned out.
5. an update on the broadway themed mood theme.
a. i need the following moods still: under the angry hierachy -- infuriated and irate; curious, hyper, under the happy hierachy -- amused, cheerful, chipper, excited, refreshed, relaxed (which also includes calm, mellow, peaceful, recumbent, complacent, indifferent), under the silly hierachy -- ditzy, giddy, giggly, surprised, shocked; dorky, geeky; under the okay hierachy -- blah, exanimate, apathetic, blank, lethargic, listless; sympathetic, dirty, exhausted, drained, sleepy, hot, distressed, and pensieve.
b. that's only 36 moods left! out of 131 moods.
c. i have discovered that i have absolutely no graphic talent. i think i need to pick a single font, a single "backdrop," and several different colors and keep the theme as simple as possible. originally, i though i would do a bunch of different ones (and i started to this weekend), but it's starting to get too busy already, in my opinion.
d. if you would like to leave a lyric suggestion for any of the moods left, please PLEASE feel free.
6. um, that 5k-a-week thing? not going so swell. y'all are supposed to help me stick to it! get going with that!
7.
embodiment is going just fine and i anticipate that i will have pictures from (omg, i suck) march, april, and may. i'm thinking about doing actual scrapbooking. i suppose that buying a crapload of stuff over the weekend added to that.
8. i am done with "library materials for children." tonight is my last class of "storytelling for adults and children." i am happy!
i should probably close this...longest update ever.
