“Are you sure we can trust him?”
Guy snorts under his breath as he walks towards where Anonyme’s cop told him to meet them. She and the wizard said they knew who took his friend and what they might have taken him for. His silent approach meant he could hear them but they couldn’t hear him and apparently they didn’t trust him either.
“If we didn’t, he’d go off on his own. Do you want that?”
At least the cop is smart. He can at least give some respect for that. She’s got a good head on her shoulders and Anonyme trusts her, but he doesn’t know her and until he does, she’s just another person who could potentially hurt him. He’s never trusted a magic user in his life and he’s not going to start now. The wizard will never be trusted.
“He’s here to save a life, just like you and me,” the cop continues. The wizard must not have had an answer for her first question. “Let’s focus on that.”
“Let’s just get the fuck going,” he growls loud enough for them to hear him as he rounds the corner and stares at them.
The wizard has a hockey stick and a fire poke that looks to be solid iron. Well at least they hadn’t been lying about the fae being responsible for taking Anonyme. His own iron knuckles are a heavy weight in his pocket and all the knives he brought with him are iron and probably as old as some fae. But his best weapon is himself. Being a werewolf had more advantages than disadvantages in his mind. The endurance, strength and raw power behind his skinny frame would easily match the fae.
“Do you know…” the wizard starts
“Look, wizard, I know his scent like my own. I can find him. You just get us inside.”
Anonyme’s cop shifts between the two of them and fixes the wizard with a hard look. It made Guy feel smug until the same hard look is turned on him. She’s a woman used to being in charge. He just sneers at her, he’s a wolf who has never been tamed. When the veil parts, they’re just going to have to keep up with him.
