first day of work..
so i arrived at work at 1:45, the "transition" time between the am leader and the pm leader
i find three groups playing on a very very tiny playground...total roudiness...
so i go up to my am leader and ask how the first day went
his look wasn't too content...
he told me it has been chaotic the entire day
that the kids did not recieve their lunches because they were never recieved...
so now i have hungry grumpy kids...how very exciting!!
so then we are supposed to head over to an assembly for singing and dancing. we round the group together, me not knowing who is who in my group, just putting kids in lines...and we get there and they send us back to the basketball courts. they say "we are not ready" alright...we can give them more time, no problem
we get called to return for assembly...once again sent back...
the kids are definetly not happy and very hot because it was a damn hot day
finally we do assembly and he passes the kids over to me
my schedule says "teach them the dance"
r you fucking shitting me? the dance is to Janet Jackson, not even close to being suitable for 6 year olds, none the less have to teach a bunch of hungry kids.
i do my best, the girls liked it. i made some of the rowdy boys perform in front of us...bad bad bad dancing.
by "snack time" of course the snacks weren't in yet either, so again, they go hungry and i cant do anything about it unless someone goes out and picks something up...but we have no one other than leaders and we cant leave the kids..sooo
back into a room to play some games
i think we played about 5 games total in about 30 minutes
duck duck goose..sharks and minows...human knot...link tag...
but most were too hungry, tired, and grouchy because the day had sucked for them...
twas a great day
