drabble meme - multifandom

Jun 24, 2008 01:20

Put your iPod/Mp3 player on shuffle. Write song fics drabbles based on the first ten songs that play, but only write them within the time the song is playing. Then, after you post yours, tag 5 people.

I cheated a little bit. I only wrote five and I'm not tagging anybody. BUT! I wrote for new fandoms! And this is the first time I've had writing inspiration in a really long time. Huzzahs all around!

Always Be My Baby - David Cook, Spencer/socks - iCarly

They were warm. They were a conversation starter. They lit up.

They were a birthday present from Socko; a pair of electric socks that his best friend had been talking about making for months. Now Spencer was staring at them in the box, all different colors and patterns flashing back at him.

“Aren’t they great?” Socko had asked, grinning from ear to ear. So great. Spencer had spent the next week wearing them in by doing the slide move from Risky Business all over the apartment (but with pants on; Carly gave him enough weird looks as it is).

Let it Rain - Eric Clapton, Sam & Freddie - iCarly

Carly was gone, stolen by her grandfather to live in stupid Yakima and Sam was alone. She didn’t know it would hurt this much, to watch Carly’s grandfather drive off with her best friend into the dark, Seattle rain. It hurt more to turn to her right to see Spencer, stone cold face where she was used to seeing a bright smile.

Freddie gave her an awkward pat on the back and ran away before she could start teasing him about the tears in his eyes. And she would’ve too; anything to get rid of the lump in her throat.

She hung out every day in the iCarly studio, to get away from her mom and school and everything; it’s hard enough to be fourteen without your best friend there.

Sometimes Spencer joined her, bringing snacks while he worked on a new statue now that he had his art space back. Freddie would show up too and she would slap his hand when he tried to steal her grapes or chicken wings or whatever.

It took a few months for the pain to ease and Sam found herself slowly falling into a best friend rhythm with Freddie, of all people. Freddie, who was regularly checked for non-existent ticks and Freddie, who could geek out for hours about the memory his computer had.

It was a weird shift in Sam’s life and she never one hundred percent accepted to it. But the clouds cleared and she listened as Freddie showed her a cool video on SplashFace while she munched on a bologna sandwich.

Wasted - Brandi Carlile, Leonard/Penny - The Big Bang Theory

Leonard wants to shout at her, pick me! But that’d be highly inappropriate, so he holds his tongue.

He listens to Penny blather on about the latest guy, what bonehead thing this new guy did, and he keeps his mouth shut. And it’s probably better this way that he doesn’t talk because he’s concentrating on the way her blonde hair is falling over her cheek and the way her blue eyes look even bluer when she’s been crying (kind of like ocular sapphires).

If he opens his mouth now, he’ll probably start spouting off how she’s the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen and why would she want to go out with a stupid, good-looking guy when she could have him, Leonard Hofstadter? And sure, Leonard might not be as tall or as attractive as those other guys, he won’t argue that.

But he would definitely not be dumb enough to let go of Penny, the girl across the hall with the prettiest blue eyes he’s ever seen.

Big Girls Don’t Cry - Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons, Joe/Lou - Brotherly Love

For lack better language, Lou was pissed. Mad, angry, livid; all of it applied to how she was feeling toward her father at this very moment while standing on the cold street corner.

So this was what, another missed dinner? Big deal. Just add it on to the pile of missed dance recitals, missed art gallery showings, her college graduation. Now come to think of it, being pissed probably didn’t cover the half of it.

Just when she started to feel the unwanted sting of tears creep into the corner of her eyes, Lou heard the familiar rumble of motorcycle machine and she turned around to see Joe, her knight in scuffed leather.

“You okay?” he asked, killing the engine. She opened her mouth to speak, but didn’t know what to say. She opted for a shrug and he handed her the spare helmet he’d brought. “Get on.”

She did, bracing herself as the engine revved up. She held on when he took off down the road, away from the fancy restaurant and away from the broken dinner date with her absent father. Away from from the life of broken expectations and speeding toward the life she'd made on her own, thank you very much.

She’d deny it later, but she couldn’t help but cling to Joe’s waist a little tighter, as though she was holding on to the one man that she was able to depend on time and time again.

London’s Burning - The Clash, Drake/Mindy - Drake & Josh

There’s a certain feeling she gets when they’re together, like they’re constantly running yellow lights. It’s exciting and reckless and Mindy is discovering what adrenaline truly feels like as it intensely pushes through her veins.

Drake’s fingertips skim over her skin and she has to remind herself to breathe. She finds her own hands under his shirt, his flesh already warm to her touch and Mindy’s head is spinning when his lips barely graze the spot above her collarbone. She can feel her heartbeat and maybe his too as warnings grow hazier in the back of her mind.

“Don’t stop.”
