most common character: jongin (10), chanyeol (9) i'm really surprised by this lmao i thought baekhyun would be in the top
most common pairing: chankai (7) no surprises there! followed by a three-way tie with baeksoo, baekxing, and xiubaek, all with 2 lol my ao3 is basically chankai, baekship, chankai, baekship, chankai, another baekship i hate everything
favorite: talk me down. ahhh this little baby of a fic. i still don't know how i took that prompt and created this fic out of it, but i really love it. the atmosphere, the verse, jongin's pov, the way chankai interacted....i write a lot of established fic, so it was nice to write such a long, relaxed sort of meet-cute and subsequent get-together fic. i really love this one. the CBX is also liKE DEEPLY IMPORTANT TO ME and i think i wrote it really well, especially for being the only ot3 fic i've properly completed. hopefully soon i'll have this posted so yall can read it T_T
the best: talk me down, for the reasons stated above haha. also i think orbit. i was really worried about this fic, since i actually wrote most of it back in 2015. but i finally started posted it as chapters, and rereading it and seeing the reaction to it....i think i've really gotten to a place where i like it a lot. soulmate aus and polyamory is pretty rare and i'm proud of the way i've created this verse as well. hopefully i'll be able to continue it soon
most underappreciated by the universe: probably warmth? it has the least comments
most fun to write: i see you (all over me) because it was just cute, lighthearted baeksoo and teasing baekhyun is my favorite thing to do so it was enjoyable. sugar and spice was also really fun bc halloween!baekxing and cbx in powerpuff girl outfits yasss. and as much as i complained about it, i did love writing the CBX.
sexiest: uhhh possibly only yours? because abo and gangbang and general filth? LOL
holy crap that's wrong even for you: i don't think anything...was really....that out there in the realm of things, but....probably only yours?
fic that shifted my own perceptions of the characters: i don't think there really was one this year. in some ways, jongin in talk me down was a little different, bc i don't usually write through jongin's pov, and idk i think his character had a lot of worries in that fic that i hadn't originally planned so it was interesting to see how he handled them. the CBX has also made it me more welcoming to writing minseok, too, who has always been kind of difficult for me.
hardest to do: the CBX. it's been a long time since i've written anything remotely that long and i've been working on it for about nine months so like ahlsdjkfal;sdfasd im dead that fic killed me. i had a lot of ideas for this and as the first ot3 fic i really fully managed to complete, i think it was difficult making sure everything was balanced and that i wasn't favoriing one ship more than the others etc.
biggest disappointment: i wish i'd finished the CBX in time to actually post it in 2016 but other than that i'm just a little sad i didn't write more fics. i was just so focused on the CBX that it made it virtually impossible for me to write anything else that wasn't like 5k or shorter. i was really not very inspired for fic ideas outside of the CBX. which is not a bad thing, but i guess i was just hoping to have written some more, tried some other genres, etc.
a thing that i’m surprised at: that the CBX ended up sO LONG LOL
what pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you never would have predicted in january?: nothing much tbh all the ships i wrote are ones i love a lot. i guess only yours would be the closest. i have actually thought of writing a baekhyun gangbang before but i wasn't expecting it to turn out this way and i didn't have plans to write it this year lol
story with single sweetest moment?: there is a scene or two in the CBX but i can't tell u :D
the story that made you cry?: la douleur exquise made me crY A LOT while writing it lmaoooo also a scene in orbit between chansoo, and a scene in the CBX which surprised me the most :(
easiest story to write?: a lot of the shorter fics for the autumn fic meme, also only yours, more or less, since i somehow churned out 8k of that in one day???? i still don't know how that happened. la douleur exquise was also easy, bc sometimes u just gotta churn out a lot of angst at once lol
most overdue story?: THE CBX SOBS IT"S COMING IM SORRY
did you take any writing risks this year? what did you learn from them?: lol nah i didn't take any risks bc im a weenie tbh. i keep saying i wanna try new things, new genres, new pairings, but i end up sticking to the same old thing every time. which isn't bad but........i wish i wasn't so complacent i guess. the cbx might be the closest to a "risk" if i had to pick, just bc writing ot3 get-together fics is still new to me. but the hardest part of that fic was that it just kept growing, not necessarily the actual plot/the writing. if that makes sense.
in regards to writing, what did you learn this year: same as i said above i guess. that i don't take a lot of risks and am really complacent in my writing. sighs. this is basically what i said last year too, so yeah. i don't think i've grown that much in writing this past year, which is sad.
do you have any fanfic goals for the new year?: yes, i'm not writing baekhyun at all this year. this is a legitimate goal ok. i'm gonna kEEP IT. i'm so tired of being in his head sobs. other than that, i don't know lol. i would like to write more chankai, like a proper get-together, full fic. bc most of my fic for them this year were short little things. i'd like to keep up with orbit. i don't know if i'll finish it anytime soon, but i would like to make a real effort to pick back up in it and write some more chapters. i'd also like to write some suchen, or some like chenxing. i guess we'll see~
