I like your blog. Really. But someone raises a sincere objection to something you said in a post and the response is, "It was a joke." Someone makes a similar joke in a comment to another post, and you not only scold them, you ban them if they attempt to say it was just a joke ( Read more... )

Whut?

Was there any kind of time difference between the incidents, or does this person just not make sense?

Not really. The thwapping people in the comments is kind of an ongoing thing (which I can get behind, because it's supposed to be a safe space and all that jazz, so thwapping people for possibly-offensive jokes makes sense), but apparently someone offended by her joke just needs to calm down. Which quite honestly is making me feel more uncomfortable than the joke itself.

Yeah, I'm going with "not making sense" for this one.

Okay, yeah, that is just straight-up hypocrisy. Jerk.

Is it okay if I ask who this is?

I've heard of it; I am too. D'you wanna bring that up, or is there too much potential for nastiness?

I've been debating it back and forth with myself since I saw the comment. Because I'm really bad at confrontation even on the net, so I'm kind of wavering between staring at the text box, typing something, erasing it, re-typing something, erasing that, closing out of the window...and then going back an hour later to repeat the process.
