Country music blasted out of the open windows of the beat up truck, Lindsey leaning his arm out the window as he drove down the empty country highway. There was a speeding ticket clipped into his visor - thanks to Angel’s real mature sign - but he didn’t care.

He was free.

Well, he was as free as any Wolfram and Hart employee can be when running from a multi-dimensional evil corporation.

Lindsey knew he’d have to hide soon, but not now. Now he was working on getting back to his roots and starting over; starting over as well as a man like him could. His soul belonged to Wolfram and Hart and no amount of running away could stop that; he was going to be damned if he was going to let them have his life too. After everything…he needed to have some of it back for himself.

Maybe he was even going to be able to walk Anna down the isle at her wedding in March. Now wouldn’t that be something?

He turned down the winding path and headed up to the bluff, the bluff where he met his high school sweetheart before college and the promise for something better drug him away and promised him something more.

Temptation’s a bitch.

Shifting the truck into park, Lindsey stepped out - letting the music die off the hills - and shrugged his beat up leather jacket on. Feeling the setting sun’s warmth on his face he sighed, closing his eyes as he stood at the edge of the cliff, feeling something he hadn’t felt in a very long time - maybe never.

Free…and maybe…just a little bit of hope.
