Lazy Monday

It's drizzling out today. I'm home alone, and trying to stay up so I can get back on a "normal" sleeping pattern; it's really boring. I'd go on MSN but no one is ever on this early in the day.

I really should be using this time to write something - I promised myself I really would this summer (just like every other summer for the past forever). It's crazy how the summer's almost over. I'm going to be in college in two weeks exactly. Isn't that just insane? Actually, you know what's insane? I'm pretty sure I haven't actually said where I'm going to college on this thing. I know I meant to, but then I just ... didn't. So, I should probably do that now, huh? Right then.

Feel free to do a drum roll in your head, on your desk, on you knee or assorted fleshy body parts (ooh, dirty sounding!), or wherever right now.

In two weeks (fourteen days) I will start attending Hollins University.

... "Where?" You're probably (and understandably) asking.

I present to you Hollins University, of Roanoke, Virginia.

... Again with the "Where?", huh? As my Dad loves to say, it's right beneath the Blue Ridge Mountains. If you haven't heard of that particular blue tinted range of over sized hills, I don't blame you. I hadn't either until I went for a tour, but I guess it's pretty well known local landmark, as far as things like that go. Roanoke, VA is unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) not like the slightly more well-known Roanoke of first attempt at establishing an English Colony gone Twilight Zone-ish-ly astray fame. For one thing the infamous one is is North Carolina, for another, Virgina's Roanoke is not an island. Which is mildly disappointing seeing as I never get to go to the beach.

Anyways, it's a small school (800-1000 undergrads, methinks, all in all), but it has one of the best creative writing programs in the country, loads of internship opportunities, and an incredible study abroad program. Also, there are horses that you can ride.

I'm going to be majoring in Political Science, but hopefully taking enough creative writing courses that it (the creative writing, I mean) just becomes my minor by default. Uh, what else? Oh, that's right - my roommate! Her name's Mary, she from Texas, and she likes showtunes. Based on this I started thinking of her as my 2.0 version of 'Rora. =P I talked to her on the phone the other day, and MSN before that; she's cool, very bubbly and excitable, and an even bigger procrastinator than me (which I didn't realize was possible). She's going to be studying film studies, and is on the tennis team. I think we'll get along okay.

Blegh, I'm crazy tired right now. I suppose this is the price you pay for adapting yourself to a nightguards sleep schedule. It's raining harder now, too. I hope it doesn't start storming. I'd hate to have to turn this off, 'cause I know it'd mean I'd just give in and go to sleep. I'm such a sleepy idiot.

In other news, I really want to see the movie Stardust, and I finally made a facebook.

school, hollins, tired
