Summary: When she was human, she sometimes dreamed about what it would be like to be like Damon.

Caroline lies still in her bed, her breathing shallow and irregular. She can feel traces of her own blood fall slowly down the back of her neck toward the predator beside her, tempting him. He’s had his fill, though, and his hand plays roughly in her hair as he relaxes in the afterglow.
There is a part of her that desires to pull away from him and hide under her covers, but she cannot move. It’s strange…to be aware of the blood loss, the weakness, the tiredness.
Damon’s other hand-the one not pulling at her curls-smears the blood around this latest bite and Caroline uses all her strength to grasp ineffectually at his hand. She hates this part more than anything, but her will to survive kicks in and she begs him silently.
Damon sighs as he gives in and sits up before pulling her closer. He bites into his wrist before forcing his blood down her throat.
When he leaves later and she is alone in the middle of the night, she curls up and stares into the darkness. On nights like this, a part of her wonders what it would be like.
Things are clearer; even in the darkness of her room she can see more. She’d be stronger; she wouldn’t have to put up with him anymore. She would be the predator instead of always the prey.
Her dreams consist of blood and fangs and screams and when she wakes, she begins to see the appeal.
