After spending an inordinate amount of time on-line tracking down links, I realized several things: 1) the Wayback Machine misses about as many files as it preserves; 2) the sororityboys-fic yahoo group is no more *sniff*; and 3) it's always the very best fics' authors that can't be found anywhere. So, you're getting this rec

I have a website and have yet to figure out how to use the statistics panel in any useful-seeming manner. You're good if you managed to track down this post! I was wondering how you'd stumbled upon it.
As for the wanting to be told part, I think that if you posted a note or something asking people to tell you even when they only rec or link, you'd get some results on that front. I considered emailing around all the SB authors asking about their stories, but gave the idea up since I sent out about half-a-dozen letters asking folks if they were that author who'd written that SB fic, and have to date received exactly 0 replies. There went my idea of making an automated SB archive down the drain...
The fic with Krycek was mostly just to calm me down :) Now, for example, I ponder writing about Kronos destroying the wayback machine. It's just things to make me feel better ;)
*bounces* If you ever decide to unleash Kronos on the WM let me know; I've got a few grudges he could pound into it for me. *evil grin*
I think the WB, like any other archive, just has to ask permission before archiving. It's just the... ethics of online, you know? You want something, bloody ask for it. It's like people who use your icons without credit. It's the people who steal your fic. It's just wrong.
I won't argue with you on the etchics of WM, but I can agree that they could at tell people they've archived their sites. Asking for permission might be a long strech, as folks go "off" the internet every day, email addies are abandoned and sites only stay up till the host removes them lacking an active owner. If I have trouble hunting down authors using both WM and Scroogle, I doubt WM alone without an internet archive could do better.
Plagiarism, now that's a point where I get out the pitchforks. Even posting other people's stories on your own site without their permission I can get light a small bonfire over. Linking and reccing without sending notice? Not so much a no-no, and I'm not just saying this 'cause I just did it in large ammount. Word of mouth is what the internet, the people's internet, is all about. I can understand your frustration over it, though, but other than asking folks to step carefully around your stuff and give you fair warning, I can offer no other advice.
I'm typing this while staring at Adina's lovely arched (thick) neck in the background pic... Someone really needs to sick their teeth in there. You mentioned the possible possibility of a crossover *purrs* What fandom did you have in mind? Adam/Adina goes well with so many fandoms, I think. (I've recently watched "Wilby Wonderful" and almost instantly thought of ways to xo it with SB... I may need therapy if my Duck!muse strongarms my Adina!muse into hiding.)

Re statistics, I'm not good, my host is, he set the site so it's easiest. We love him muchly.
I'm sorry people don't reply. Maybe it's their old emails; I answer everything I get, but I left behind in the past decade at least five addresses :)
Re Kronos and the WB (whether the wayback or the warner brothers), please note icon.
Linking and reccing is okay, yes. I'm not against that in any way - I'd *like* a note, but I don't have to. That's not my issue. The WB machine puts up pictures, personal pictures, that I removed from my site for very good reasons, see. Different.
Re the idea: I thought about immortal!Adina... or even an unrelated thing, how does an immortal handle transgenderism of any kind, what if you live your first so and so decades as male but then change for the rest of a few centuries, etc. Many ideas to be explored there. And don't worry, I won't let Adina anywhere *near* Kronos ;)

Your icon (this one) looks scary, in a crazed-out way... I dunno the guy but the text sure makes a point. *sends a thumbs up your way*
Oooh, Immie!Adina !! *bounces* I had a idea for a long, very involved Methos/Adina fic long years ago, but never got around to writing more than a sliver of a snippet. I thought that the trasngender thing would be something like how old immies change 'personalities', it would come and go gradualy... As long as you do keep Adina away from psychos like Kronos I'll feed your plot bunnies so they get nice and fat. *brings out carrots and other bunnie treats* ;-D
Oh, and I do see your point about the Wayback Machine (WB for short, 'cause I'm lazy and hate Warner Bros. anyway), but as long as they're not using it for their own gain, i.e. taking away the contents for personal use, I think it's almost OK. Unless someone wants to remove something permanently from the web, like you. Then I can see the problem but I'm hard pressed to really get upset at it brought me more Adina fics! *cackles like a mad woman... well, mad-er*

The guy in the icon is Kronos, his boyfriend brother boyfriend. He's smiling like a crazy boy with weapons; you may not recognise because he looks so damn happy.
I think I also tried Methos/Adina, just for the hell of it and the "usual suspects" thing, but I don't recall ever doing anything serious with it. I thought to do a serious gender thing, but, eh, I'm a bit on the lazy side.
You may, if you wish, take this from an lj discussion to AIM or some such. I still hate the WB, but I'm capable of not harping on it (usually).

I chat about once in a blue moon, obviously. I think ICQ might work as welll... Basically any chat-thingy as long as I don't have to download anything.
Hmmm... that was Kronos? Darn, you're right! I didn't recognize him without all the face paint and a nasty grin smirk. :-)
Oh. I don't mind you harping on WB, really. As long as I get to grumble a bit as well.

We'll also have to agree on a time to "meet"; I keep European hours, GTM+1.
But I'm up for a chat or two if you are.

My ICQ# is 261416497 but I have to warn you it doesn't always work well for me.
I'll again tomorrow morning as it's getting late. I'll try AIM again, then ICQ; if all fails I'll make a chatroom on my site. Something has *got* to let me chat, darnit. Now it's just frustrating me.
