THURS.
my studio asked me to sing vocals for a pitch they're doing that's in the style of a berkeley busby musical. so they sent me to a recording studio in hollywood to "lay down some tracks" as they would say in the industry. hah, yes -- i was nervous. dude guy's a pro and legit, and i'm some girl who sings dumb songs about crushes in her tiny apartment in her scanties. anywho, he explained to me that his friend from capitol records was gonna help him mix everything together and that something might come out of it for me. skeptical, i just "pfftt"ed him. (dude guy engineer's name is brent. super awesome southern gentlemen from kentucky who ties his own bowties. his son's name is crazyheart. wild.) so after i warmed up, it was fun. he told me to sing like whitney. then mariah. then make my voice sound like dizzy's trumpet, hahah.
at the end of the session, we wrapped up and then he said he was serious about capitol records guy coming. brent wanted to give my name to capitol dude cuz he is always looking for female vocals. i had one business card left, so i gave it to him and it's been passed along. here's to waiting on my new singing career. backup vocals for joss stone or something, haha.
the cut came in at 6p. and everyone at work was like O_O
i wanted to curl up and vomit on myself, hah. so many me's -- a choir of me's. it grossed me out. but everyone else was really impressed. they said if we won the pitch they'd get me back in the recording booth, hahah. well, i wouldn't mind, that's for sure.. but give me more money. please?
SAT.
went to a cafe night in torrance with jamry to support jen who did a painting for it. the event also was a fundraiser for a mission trip to tanzania. i miss james -- he's super encouraging and an overall good kid. he really needs to learn how to listen though, haha. anywho, it was good to spend time with him.
jen's painting was really awesome. super talented lady who just happens to be one of my very best friends in la. someone bid $100 on it!
the music was alright. alex hwang was there, and he kind of stole my heart. i sighed while imagining writing songs with him, haha. PLUS he wore a yellow oxford shirt. hee. another dude, joseph pfeiffer played and he was pretty good. had a cellist and a cajon player. he led some worship songs at the end which was really nice. probably made some people uncomfortable. sorry.
it was a good night though. vasil came. patrick and peter came. charity came. it was swell.
SUN.
richard had a sort of recital that he invited us to go see. honestly -- i was very proud of him. that guy is soooo talented. it makes me really happy to see my friends doing what they were made to be doing. like, seeing them be free, be themselves, and really just pointing to God through their gifts. richard is just made to play guitar, so i smiled a lot, haha. when he plays blues, man -- it's emotional, haha.
ok. so it was a very musical weekend. it makes me happy.
i'm just even more convinced that the dude i'm gonna marry needs to love music as much as me. hopefully make the music too. so we can make musics together. it's almost key. and probably the one of the easiest ways to make me pay attention to you.
vacation in a week. yessss.
