how to be a part of history-- please read

All day I have been contemplating what this election means to myself, our nation, and the rest of the global community. I am not going to disclose who I was rooting for in the election, I came to MY decision based on personal beliefs, research on the candidates stances on issues, and yes by reading up on their personal backgrounds from different political viewpoints. I informed myself, and didn't get caught up in the moment of race, gender, age, or political association. Why? You should vote for a person based on how well they can do what's right for our country based on what on the ideals our country was founded up. Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I didn't realize honestly how horrible people would become during the election. I have seen the ugly side of people and I feel compelled to say the following:

WE MUST COME TOGETHER AS A COUNTRY......Whether your party won or lost this is going to be how we really make history. The world is watching, they know our history, and they are waiting for the good to once again turn bad. Yes, we made history electing our first non white president. I say in the terms because we have broken the color barrier and that is amazing. Everyone is saying hurtful things, both sides! How we make history will be how we come together. I implore all the people who voted, we had a record turnout, to stay in the political process. Stay informed, contact your representatives, and make sure your voice is still heard. Our age demographic typically registers, but never actually gets out and votes. This year we voted and we need to stay in the game! We need to make sure we keep the change going. If you are disgruntled about how the race turned out I offer you this challenge. Be the watchdog, stay informed and in the game, if the administration falters then let your representatives know. Don't sit back and say in four years we can change this. You can not just check out of this process now that the election is over. For the next three years, we all must stay in the fight no matter what side we are on. Work together and if we think the administration failed us then we will start the process over. Just stop the name calling, bad vibes, and let's get down to business making our country a place where everyone is glad to be American, no matter who is in office. For all of you that have shown your passion for this election by posting notes throughout the process, I have enjoyed reading your thoughts on the election.
Thanks for listening!
Heather
