I HAVE ACCOMPLISHED A MILESTONE IN MY LIFE. MY PRIDE IN THIS FEAT IS IMMENSE, BUT EVEN MORE IS MY ABILITY TO GO "FUCK YOU LIFE" AND GOOF OFF EVEN MORE THAN I USED TO.

In order to celebrate this momentous occasion, I have done my favorite drabble meme of all time while I should have been doing math and/or sleeping. And I did it for Lloyd THE IRONY, CAN YOU FEEL IT.

1. Pick a character, pairing, or fandom you like.
2. Turn on your music player and put it on random/shuffle.
3. Write a drabble related to each song that plays. You only have the time frame of the song to finish the drabble; you start when the song starts, and stop when it's over. No lingering afterwards!
4. Do ten of these, then post them.

theAUDITION; "You Made Us Conscious"
Oh oh oh - look at what we've tried not to become
Another fabricated self-portrait.
Oh oh no - take another glance and remember we're the ones
setting you up to take our fall.
He was sitting on the roof with his legs dangling over the edge. Watching Hima underneath him had gotten boring after everyone had gone to bed, and since the roof was level enough to support most of his weight, he leaned back with his arms behind his head as soon as the sun went down. Colette had gone in with Genis ages ago, when the Professor had called the tenth time that they needed to rest for tomorrow. Only Kratos had stayed, staring at nothing with his arms crossed and with an expression Lloyd had never seen before.

------------
Dirty Little Rabbits; "Hello"
Hello, it's so nice to see your face again.
Hello, it's so nice to see you.
All good people find one another.
Hello, it's so nice.
He was ashamed to admit it, but it was actually kind of funny to watch Colette now. After having to see her expressionless for so long, it was a breath of fresh air to have her laughing and singing and eating up Genis' cookies again, so much so that it made him want to laugh. He didn't, though - at least, not because of that - because this party was for Colette, and as far as he was concerned, Colette should have been doing all the laughing.

He did later, though. He did when she clasped his arm with one hand and her new pendant in the other, and dragged him outside because the breeze was cool and, she said, suddenly the stars were a lot more beautiful. She blinked when he laughed, and then she was laughing too, and suddenly it didn't matter what they had to do in the morning - Colette was Colette and Lloyd was Lloyd again.

Sons of Steel; "In the Groove Thing"
(instrumental)
He fancied himself a sort of makeshift ninja - sure, he wasn't like the ones in Mizuho that had ambushed him from the ceiling, but he figured he was decent enough. And anyway, this was important; it was a matter of life or death, the last straw that would determine his fate.

The closet was too small for him, honestly. Whoever was in charge of folding the sheets was pretty bad at it - they were sticking out of almost every shelf and jabbing him in the back, the head, you name it. He had to hold the door closed against his shoes, and even then there was a sliver of light that he could practically feel lighting up a tuft of his hair.

There was a yell from downstairs and he grimaced, trying to pull the door closer to shutting. That forced him to shift his feet, which shifted the rest of him - including his shoulders that were holding up a few of the heavier comforters on the higher shelves. He glanced up as soon as he felt them slip - just in time to watch them spill on top of him and knock him back into the hall.

Right in front of the Professor, with Genis' ear in one hand and an Algebra book in the other.

Yellowcard; "Starstruck"
You had no motivation.
Your hopes are high but trapped below.
This constant competition,
we've won but you're still keeping score.
He was angry. Still so angry, when he was sure that he'd finally gotten over it. It wasn't that steel trap of anger he'd felt the first time - it was more subdued, more like a rock pressing down on his throat and his lungs. It hurt a lot more than it had before.

He took a deep breath, and reminded himself to think about what was important. That's what Kratos had always told him in the beginning, wasn't it? Calm down. Stay focused. Keep your guard up.

He turned around and went back into the house - back to his dad and Colette and her illness - and told himself that was the only reason he was still listening to the angel now.

Blackmore's Night; "Where Are We Going From Here?"
As the day dies, with tears in our eyes,
there's too few hellos and too many goodbyes.
Silence answers our cries.
Where are we going from here?
Somewhere in the back of his mind, he knew it was supposed to be hot in that place. It was dark and closed-in, with roots and cracked branches suffocating it even more. But he was still clenching his swords harder, to keep himself warm.

He had done a lot of horrible things in the past year - a lot of people had been killed because of him that was why he was here he wouldn't forget that - but somehow this one was different. Ice blue eyes, a voice that cut colder than he ever imagined it even could be, and Zelos Wilder's blood on his blade.

------------
Natalie Imbruglia; "Torn"
... Okay no I will admit that this drabble and this song have absolutely nothing to do with each other. THIS WAS JUST WHAT HAPPENED.

People were so proper in Meltokio. Even Palmacosta hadn't had this many rules, and Lloyd was pretty sure he didn't even know half of the ones he was supposed to be following. When he'd mentioned it earlier, Zelos had just clapped him on the back and laughed before wobbling away through the crowd, holding his glass above all the people's heads as a tiny mob swept with him.

Lloyd grimaced and draped himself over the banister of the balcony; no one was looking up there anyway, so he was okay, right? These clothes were scratchy and too tight around his shoulders, and he was positive that the whatever-it-was around his neck was going to suffocate him eventually. This thing needed to end fast - there was a fountain outside with his name on it.

Alanis Morissette; "You Owe Me Nothing in Return"
You owe me nothing for giving the love that I give
You owe me nothing for caring the way that I have
I give you thanks for receiving, it's my privilege
And you owe me nothing in return.
He made sure to visit Mom's grave as much as he could in the days before he left for the second journey. He felt a little bad that he wasn't around much to talk to her during the first one - the most important part of his life, and it was the only one he hadn't narrated to her - but it was Mom. Mom would understand; she always did.

He'd spent the last hour in the forest, picking flowers. He'd always used to bring her flowers before, but he figured that since this was the first time in a while, he'd better find the very best ones. It was easier than he expected - he still knew the forest like the back of his hand, even after all this time.

He crouched first, then decided it would be better to just plop on the stones in front of her grave. He set the flowers down, propped up against Dad's sword; they were tied with a little ribbon he'd found in one of his drawers -- red. He set his forearms on his knees, smiled, and figured he didn't actually need to narrate anything after all.

Vienna Teng; "I Don't Feel So Well"
I don't feel so well.
I thought that you should know
I thought that you should know
that I don't feel so well.
He wished someone had told him in advance that they were scattering. He'd only figured it out when he reached the bottom of the stairs, when the smell of burnt something reached his nose and he finally realized just what it was that was making the Inn's cook yell so much. It explained why Colette was hovering by the window with the curtains twisted in her hands, why Kratos had locked his door instead of just holing up in his room, and why he hadn't seen Genis for at least two hours.

He panicked - he didn't have time to come up with a Plan B. The double doors to the kitchen were already swinging open, and Professor Sage was already stumbling out. Her hair was a little black around the tips and there was a pillar of smoke following her, but she was still smiling when she cornered him and held the black plate of something under his nose.

Sixx A.M.; "Life is Beautiful"
Just open your eyes
And see that life is beautiful.
Will you swear on your life,
That no one will cry at my funeral?
It was unnerving how much like glass Exspheres were, and how you could only tell the second they were shattering. It had been like that with Alicia's, he knew that, but somehow this one seemed magnified - like it had been that much more fragile.

The Mithos he knew wasn't the Mithos he'd just killed. The Mithos he knew was hopeful, was optimistic, was his friend. The Mithos he knew could have lived in their world with them; happy, like he should have been.

Lloyd stared up through the branches of the Great Tree; he'd known what to name it even before he'd stopped to think.

------------
The Lion King; "Be Prepared"
Meticulous planning
Tenacity spanning
Decades of denial
Is simply why I'll
Be king undisputed.

They had been planning this from the very beginning. The first lunch of the first day of school, back when he was twelve and Genis was still smarter than him. It had been meticulously orchestrated - just the two of them; this was a battle between men, it was decided - and now the time was here.

Colette was sitting at the other end of the table, her eyes wide. Lloyd heard her say something about the Professor that he mostly screened out - he wasn't letting the the Balawhatever interrupt this.

Genis turned, finally done with his math, and held out his fist on his open palm. “Best 400 out of 799.”
