Ive wrote a few songs since I've been gone. I decided to post a few here and see what my fellow LJ'ers had to say about them. I'm only posting my two best ones here.
Sapphire Gate
Branden Meyers
I walked across the iron fields to the sapphire gate
Cut the diamond lock hoping I was not too late
I had to make haste couldn't let a minute past
Had to save my love from the heasts of steel and brass
I found her in a cave wrapped in golden chains
Gave my best to break them but I made no gains
I realized what it was and it burnt me like a fire
My love was wrapped in chains of her own wild desire
I quickly turned around and ran from the sapphire gate
I couldn't save my love from this dreadful fate
But I suddenly realized that this was no time to cry
I knew not what to do but knew I had to try
Then I looked to the west and I saw a silver blade
Forced into a stone inside an iron glade
I went over to take it and pulled it from the earth
And courage began to burn with my heart as its hearth
I took my newfound strength and I began to run
To the sapphire gate knowing what must be done
But when I reentered all I found was fog
And I felt I was lost inside this iron bog
But to the south I saw a great beacon shine its light
Giving all the lost ones a new will to fight
I quickly made my way back to that goldan cave
Knowing that my new hope would show me the way
I took the silver sword and I slashed the golden chains
I swung the blade until it filled my arms with heavy pain
Then came a bolt of lighting and all that I could see
Was a field of white light gathered around me
One more swing of the silver sword was all it took
The golden chains snapped and the whole world shook
A lazing love had shattered a binding yearn and hate
And I carried my love far from the sapphire gate
The chord progession for each line is as such:
Am C G Am
I took the silver sword and I slashed the golden chains
Before each verse there is a solo in Am, and the song ends with a longer solo in Am.
What Ever Happened to the Good Ones Like These?
Branden Meyers
Turnin on the radio and all the stuff that I hear
Almost makes me break down in tears
All I hear on most every station
Is a load of crap that's sweepin our nation
Rainy Day Woman numbers 12 and 35
Why aren't the good ones like this still alive
Dear Mr Fantasy play us a tune
I only hear stuff this good once I a blue moon
Go back Jack and do it again
Why'd the good times have to end
Layla always had me on my knees
What ever happened to the good ones like these
All the record stores sell now is rap
And pop, headbanger, just a load of crap.
I'd give most anything if someone would play
The kind of stuff they don't give us today.
Rainy Day Woman numbers 12 and 35
Why aren't the good ones like this still alive
Dear Mr Fantasy play us a tune
I only hear stuff this good once I a blue moon
Go back Jack and do it again
Why'd the good times have to end
Layla always had me on my knees
What ever happened to the good ones like these
Rainy Day Woman numbers 12 and 35
Why aren't the good ones like this still alive
Dear Mr Fantasy play us a tune
I only hear stuff this good once I a blue moon
Go back Jack and do it again
Why'd the good times have to end
Layla always had me on my knees
What ever happened to the good ones like these
I don't have a chord progression for this one yet, I'll make one and let you know when I have one.
And for those who actually look at my current music, you might see Ive gone through a shift in tastes a bit.
Clapton is the God of Wah....
