Fun in the woods...
May 11th marks my one year anniversary living in California. Joey and I were talking the other night, and I was telling him how little of California I've actually seen, so this weekend we decided to do some exploring instead of hanging at home.
Before I start on Sunday's adventure, I will recap the rest of the weekend. On Friday, we stayed home so that we could get the weekend chores done. Saturday morning we went to go see Spiderman 3. It blew. It really did. No need to go into any further detail, but I will say that this will be the last Spiderman movie I see in theaters. After grabbing a late lunch, Joey and I headed to Mat and Frank's for a little Cinco de Mayo celebration. As always, we had a great time.
We woke up early Sunday morning and drove to Muir Woods. After having dinner with my friend Duffy (who was visiting from NJ) the other night, and hearing her talk about how cool the Woods were, I thought that this would be a really good way to commemorate my year anniversary on the West Coast. We weren't disappointed. The Woods were so extremely peaceful and serene, and I've never felt smaller in my life. Immediately after arriving, we were greeted by a deer that was seriously 8 feet from where we were standing. It's been awhile since I've been that close to nature. After spending about an hour and a half hiking the trails, we decided to get back in the car, drive down the coast, and have lunch at a haunted restaurant in Moss Beach.
Joey had seen an episode of Unsolved Mysteries a while back that showcased a restaurant called the Moss Beach Distillery that was reported to be haunted. Here's how the story goes... a woman and a man had fallen in love, and their rendezvous point would be this restaurant. After being killed in a car accident, her ghost supposedly wanders the distillery in search of her love. She is referred to as "The Blue Lady," and has been sighted on several occasions. There have been reports of missing earrings and levitating checkbooks in the past as well. Being a huge lover of all things paranormal, I was hoping to catch a glimpse of her. No such luck... though I did see a shrimp levitate off my plate and go into my mouth. Oh wait... that was just me. Nonetheless, we did have some delicious food and the most breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean from our table. After lunch we headed home and napped (or at least I did).
Hopefully we can get out and see more of what California has to offer every few weeks. We really want to get to Tahoe at some point, and we made plans to go camping with Mat and Frank this summer. That should be a blast. Aside from that, we are going to have a pretty busy couple of months. Concert season has started back up, so the shows are starting to roll in again. We are going to Miami the week of July 4th for a few days to visit the folks and take in some sun. And hopefully we should have a wedding date set in the next few weeks after we go to Joey's friend Allie's wedding. Coincidentally enough, she is having her wedding at the same place we were thinking about having ours in an area called Woodside. Oh... and in case I forgot to mention it, we decided to move the wedding from Canada to California for ease of planning and convenience for our friends and family. We will still be going to Canada to legalize it either immediately before or after, but the fiesta will be here. Stay tuned for details.
Ok... off to go watch the Amazing Race finale. Go Mirna and Charla!
P.S. New pics from this weekend are in my Myspace gallery. I think everyone on here is a Myspace friend... if not, request me and I'll add ya.
