This is going to be a quick entry...It's really just to say hello and pass some time.
Pats party today at the BNDs--Which stands for Boys Next Door, but don't really live next door anymore--My Mom is cooking. She is bringing in her usual stuffed shells, meatballs and baked goods...and my Dad even got involved and made some chop suey, it's his specialty. Its great to have such awesome parents. I mean really...Who cooks a crap load of food and then drives an hour to drop it off, and turns around and drives an hour home--On Super Bowl Sunday no less!? My parents do, that's who. :)
It's funny--I grew up in a small, suburban, upper middle class, white town...With white picket fences and children playing in the street. Its really not uncommon to have parents that will do this in my town. Allie's Mom definitely does and Cas's Dad is known for his pizza throughout town--Not to mention her Mom's cookies. I miss those days of team parties and sleepovers sometimes.
Now don't get me wrong-I might be a white, suburban kid...But I am no where near upper middle class. I just wonder sometimes what it is like for the inner city kids--Do they have team parties too? I have been in Boston for about 3 years now...And my parents taught me a lot about people who might not have as much as we did while I was growing up...But while the children playing in the street have been replaced by homeless people and the white picket fences have been replaced by iron bars on the windows...It makes me really wonder.
I think tonight I will bring the left overs to the homeless people on the corner of Gainsborough and Mass Ave...I'm sure they will love some of my Mom's stuffed shells.
Go Pats!
