Connie and I went for a walk by the river the other day. This is the Thames we're talking about, for anyone who wonders what river... Anyway we had turned around and were heading back along the promenade towards the car when a cacophony of honking steadily grew from upriver, behind us.
"Prepare to be goosed!" I quipped!
Little did I know what was heading our way.
This was not a "gaggle" of geese. This was not even a flight of geese. This was a whole damned Air Force of geese!
They came flying down the river - and every single wingtip was above the water, not one strayed over the bank! They flew in loose and tight V formations as they saw fit. Wave after wave of them.
It was like a mass bombing raid during World War Two!
There must have been a thousand birds there... It was an awesome sight, not to mention the sound of wings beating and throats honking. And the moment they were gone I said a rude word - "I should have got my phone out and recorded that!"
Oh well, you'll have to take my word for it!
