Anniversary

Today is our 3rd wedding anniversary. It is three years ago that we went to Niagara Falls and got married. A lot has happened in those three years. But we still feel like newly-weds. We still behave like love-struck teenagers.

And we still enjoy doing off-the cuff things together.

Today for example. We both took the day off and after a fairly late start and a quick trip into town, Connie said she wanted to go somewhere. Didn't matter where. So we drove (in my new car) down to Hayling Island. For those not in Southern England, Hayling is a seaside holiday resort, between Portsmouth and Chichester, on the South Coast. It is rather delapidated, but then it's hard to find a seaside resort in this country that isn't!

It wasn't exactly the sunniest day and we parked by the beach (shingle), had a coffee and a burger in the local "greasy-spoon" (I've eaten there before, back when I was driving trucks), then had a short walk along the beach before heading home.

Came home a different way, almost got lost in Alton - where I did my brief sting delivering newspapers to newsagents, because I couldn't remember the route I used to take to get back home. The reason we took a different route home was partly because we wanted to, but partly because the roadworks at M4 J11 are a nightmare at the best of times and on the way down, the queue to gat back into town was about 4 miles long!

And tonight, for dinner, the best cook in the pan-dimensional multiverse is barbecuing a couple of steaks. Actually, to avoid confusion, I should probably say she's grilling them on the barbecue...! And for my English readers, yes there is a difference. If you barbecue something it involves barbecue sauce, usually in vast amounts!
