The rivers in Cardiff (the capitol city of Wales) would appear to be very dangerous places. What makes me think that? Well, do what I did.
Open Google Earth and find Cardiff. If you don't have Google Earth (why not? It's free and it's very useful, not to mention interesting), open google in your browser, click "Maps", then select the satellite view. This is, in fact, Google Earth on-line. (So why bother down loading it? It's there anyway!) Having found Cardiff, find the bay. You may need to zoom out a bit, but Cardiff Bay is a big bight of water to the south of the city.
Now find one of the river estuaries into the bay. There are two. The Ely is the easiest to find. Find the barage and go West (left) until you find a marina. Go up river. Keep an eye on the surface of the river. Notice anything?
What is that string of strange eddies?
Follow them up river. They fade in and out but they go quite a way up. Follow them back down river and out into the bay. Um. They disappeared. No, wait, there they are. Whatever it is went deep then came up again. Follow them across the bay. They turn a few times. At one point they seem to branch off but the branch dead-ends. Follow the main trail. It leads into the other river, the Taff.
Most strange, because the eddies are almost uniform in size and shape at the points where they are visible. Could it be that the Red Dragon of Wales is alive and well in the rivers of Cardiff?
