Today

It's a beautiful summer day. We lost another fish last week, but all things considered, if we loose one fish every so often, that's not too bad. Went down to World of Water today. No, we didn't get any more fish. The aquarium is really at the limit of the number of fish we can keep in it, and the water quality is kind-of border line.

We now have live plants in there. Two weeks ago (before we went away for the weekend), we put three live plants in. One of them has been totally demolished already. Seriously, those greedy wassnames ate the whole thing. The other two plants survived, although one of them gets nibbled at quite a lot!

So, today, we bought three more plants. One the same as one we already have, which we planted where the one they ate was, one the same as the one they ate, which I split up and planted in two smaller clumps, expecting it to get eaten, and one totally different one that had a decent looking root on it.

We did water tests and a partial water change this morning and cleaned the filter media, but discovered that we didn't have any replacement sponges. Two of the sponges in our filter are only a month or so old, the other two are original, so they probably could do with changing. So, we bought a pack of them. And some more fish food - mostly frozen. We tried them on a block of frozen blood worms. They didn't last long!

On the subject of food, we're barbecuing tonight *grin*. Connie is going to make Mexican Seven Layer salad. (Lettuce, beans, corn, salsa, cheese, sour cream and spring onions). We have steak, mince for burgers (Connie makes her own burgers), and a bottle of red wine.

Nummy!
