The weather broke last week and went cold again. Oh well, so much for Summer.
Seriously though, here in the UK that is generally all we get, about a week of really nice hot weather in May or June. Then about July everyone starts complaining "What happened to summer?" My answer is always the same (with slight variations for duration and month of occurrence) - "Remember that [week/two weeks] we had back in [May/June]? That was it!"
Sometimes, we do get lucky and get a few weeks of nice weather in July/August too. More often that not, though, we get the "Indian Summer" of several weeks of really good weather in September instead.
Work goes okay. I learned my route on the second day of doing the job and haven't needed the sat-nav I was provided with since, except for finding alternative routes to get home. This is probably for the best as it died on Sunday. Um... I'd better back up a bit...
Friday, Saturday and Sunday I didn't need to return to the depot, as any returns would not be processed until the Monday anyway. So I was told to go straight home from
Alton. Now, as I didn't know the route I used the sat-nav. Actually, the first time (Friday) I followed my boss in his van as far as the M3, and then followed the sat-nav the rest of the way until I knew where I was. Saturday, I followed the sat-nav all the way, but with my boss' van behind me... Sunday I did the trip on my own, intending to follow the sat-nav where necessary.
Except that, first of all it kept loosing satellite lock, and then suddenly it just turned itself off - and yes, it was plugged in to the cigarette lighter. I don't know what's wrong with it. Fortunately, by then, I had the route programmed into my own "internal sat-nav" system (my brain).
I'm still meaning (at some point) to buy myself a sat-nav, partly because Connie needs one to find her way around, but mostly because I just want one!
Today (Monday) was again a nice easy day (comparatively). Nothing went wrong, I was early out of the depot and early (well - on time, really) at all the customers' shops.
Connie has developed a chest infection and has been prescribed some antibiotics! Me, I'm just feeling run down due to the broken sleep pattern. My last day at this job is Friday, and I can't say I'll be sorry.
