Google Earth is an amazing tool.
But would someone please tell me, WHAT THE FUCK these are?
This is in the middle of the Libyan desert. Libya was the country that the USA accused of backing terrorists back in the 1980s, and had the crap bombed out of it by the USA following a series of terrorist attacks and a series of naval and air skirmishes. In retaliation for the attacks by the USA, terrorist from the country planted a bomb on
a Pan-Am flight that blew up over the Scottish town of Lockerbie.
Anyway, back to the image in question...
These circles are (apparently, according to Google Earth's ruler - the yellow line across one of them) about a kilometre (0.6 mile) in diameter. They are kinda huge! Some sort of oil storage tank, possibly? If so, that's one hell of a lot of oil!
