Silly cows

Has anyone ever noticed the way cows are used in advertising?

I'm pretty sure most of these will be familiar to everyone regardless of nationality. Udder the cow from the Kellogs cereal bar adverts, the dairylea cheese ninja cows, and (possibly less familiar to those colonials reading this) Graham Heffer from the Boddingtons beer commercials.

So. Udder has a splurge gun type thing attached to her udders and fires milk at cereal to make these serial bars. As she does so she exclaims in a deep masculine voice very reminiscent of Arnie, "MILK IT!" The Dairylea cows all go off doing some very butch superhero ninja stuff - not that women don't make good superheroes or ninjas, just that there seems to be a general pattern emerging. The Boddingtons cow is supposed to be a bull, but has udders. Um?

Soooo.... What conclusion do we draw? Either advertisers think we all have no knowledge of the fact that there is a difference between cows and bulls, or the advertisers themselves have no knowledge of the difference, or maybe advertisers think all cows are lesbians?

adverts, sillyness
